What's new

K.I.S.STONER! starting fresh cuts and fresh beans, to get out of this rut..

ive just cut clones of 4 kush strains. larry, blackberry, deahead, and raskle. simple cloning method this time, no aero. cut from mom, placed directly in a cup of water for a couple minutes dipped in generic rooting powder from home depot. im using a plug tray filled with 100% vermiculite in each pod. just had a good test run with it last week. I probe a small hole in each pod of vermi, place the dipped cut in the hole, and press the vermi together around the cuttling. i wet with r/o water before and after placing the clone. cause i press a lot of water out when i compact it.

ill spray with the clonex every other day @ 5ml/gal (recommended) it kept my dying clones from yellowing and even brought back some green in them! ill spray with plain water on the other days.

***edit: clones were cut yesterday. pics from today (about 24 hours, no sprays so far)

at the same time (today) ive started 20 killing fields f2 seeds that have been in my fridge forever. i always do seeds in paper towels in a cabinet and get 100% germ every time.

my grow is already in progress and has just got into a weekly cycle of 16 to 20 plants per week. for the past 3 months or so its been 2 to 3 to 4 weeks between crops, and less then 8 plants per harvest, depending on many factors including loss of clones ( i believe due to temp flux from 62 to 78 every day), clones are now in 77 to 82 maybe 84 on a hot day).
I started with a crop of 36 plants that gave me 5.5 lbs. that was in june. after that i stayed the course of a mix of roots organic grow, bloom, and trinity with some general organics and ff additives and cal mg plus. i really winged it on my first attempt at organics but still did better then my recent attempts at super soil.

so with my basic background of my gaglefuckerie (running organics with chemical mindset, PHing and what not, it doesnt work) I'm finishing what I have going, in what they are in, and just going with the flow on those. ill give them what i think they need, if and when i think they will need it.

a list of the ongoing problems im attempting to solve (besides shitty yields of weak pot lol)

1) I failed to separate the difference between seedlings and fresh rooted cuts! treating cuttlings as seedling and depriving them of much needed energy, and essentially insuring a sucky start for every plant ive cut the past 3 month. d'oh! indeed! at least this problem is solved.....

-the rest of the problems may be a direct result of #1

2) slow growth all across veg---already got this going better with current grow....fish emulsion and kelp powder

3) pots staying wet. one gallons taking over a week to dry out---also starting to get better in current grow....adding more perlite and watering less.....

4) shitty root balls. every up pot and uppon harvest i see my root growth has been very weak.----recent transplants from 1s to 5s have scene better the usual root growth....(will plant clones in 1 gallons instead of cups from now on, and water lightly)

5) early yellowing in as early as week 3, closer to week 4. continuing to non growth and complete stunting. (pots till staying soaked even when watering with 500ml of water per 5 gallon pot. (thats about a half qt) per 2 weeks!

6) immature small undeveloped buds (im fighting it on these batches i have currently going) adding P in the form of Jamaican guano, also setting some aside for general organics nutes. ill see if anything does anything.

7) root aphids, i think. i have not seen any little larva in the runoff or the little crawlers, just flyers that look like fruit flies. neem, and hot shots bug strips did not get rid of them also aphid chasers are in there. im getting nematodes today.

8) powder mildew in week 5 or 6, using non fat milk at 50/50 to fight it.

what i have going right now and the condition they are in:

starting from oldest to youngest...all teas are with 8T ewc,2T molasses, 2T Liquid Karma (just ran out, not getting more), 2T Roots organics Trinity (similar to LK, has kelp and molasses),1T powdered kelp extract in 4 gallons of RO water. its bubbled for 24 to 48 hours.

8 martian mean green @6wks into flower. they are in revs mix soil. (1.5 cuft dr earths soil, 1 cuft of ewc, 1 cuft of perlite, 1 cup blood meal, bone meal, kelp meal, 2 cups greensand, and dolomite lime)
they started to yellow in wk 3 and by week 4 the pistols have been rapidly turning from white to red, growth has stopped, not drinking, not improving with jamaican guano in a ewc @2T/gal. setting some aside for general organics bloom at 2tsp/gal.

13 martian mean greens @ 4 weeks on monday(today is thursday)
they are in soil, perlite, ewc, and dolomite lime. no nutes. they are yellowing big time in week 3. bud hairs have not started to turn. im giving some of them (4) jamaican guano tea with fish emulsion for N and P.

10 OG's had a rough veg. looking good @ week 3 (monday) in revs mix. still green, but watching real close for the whats going to happen the next couple weeks

10 supposed AK's (not ak's, they look like little bushes with 1/2 inch node spacing even in veg and grow very slowly) @ week 2 (monday) looking good.

16 blackberry kush in revs mix @ week 1 (monday) they just barley recovered from a tough veg with no N. they went from almost dead, limp and yellow, to perky in one day, to green in a week and then tossed in the flower room. sometimes i notice the lower leaves limping, it comes and goes. weird.

those are all in flower under 4 1000w lights. temps are mid 80s. all are in 3 gallons of soil, maybe a little more. 5 gal pots cut down a few inches, not filled to the top.

in veg:

12 unAK's , 4 martian mean greens, 2 raskels and 2 deadheads just transplanted into 4 gal pots 1 week from flower. these too are
just recovering from lack of N.

behind those i have 3 stages of 20 plants, mostly blackberry kush, mmg. they are all recovering very well from the lack of N issue and will have much more time to recover.

ill transplant 20 tomorrow, and instead of one week in big pots before flower (like what im doing now) im going to give them 2 weeks! so every week i cut 20 clones, transplant 20 1 gallons to 4 gallons, and put 20 into flower, and harvest 20. this is the cycle im starting to perpetuate. worthless if my buds turn to shit at week 5.

for all the plants i now have that are in 1 gallon pots, im going to pot up into a base mix and just use my general organics on them.

with 4 plants of every cycle, i am going to use lc's mix (same as with everything else) with burn ones guano tea recipe and see how that
goes. every alternating week, the 4 new "testers" will get cooked nutrient rich soil and just water when watered.

the new cuts and beans will get the same treatment. most will get the general organics line, and 4 will be tested with guano tea or nute rich soil.

FOR THE FOCUS OF THIS THREAD, FORGET ALL THE PLANTS I HAVE CURRENTLY RUNNING. I AM GOING TO FOCUS ON THE 20 SEEDS AND 16 FRESH CUT CLONES FOR THIS THREAD. SORRY FOR CLUTTERING.

so today im picking up some peat moss, ewc, and compost. ill mix those with perlite and dolomite lime in lc's ratios.

a portion will be set aside and augmented as a veg mix. dr earths 4-4-4 and some blood meal. for my for organiknots, aka testers.

another portion will be put aside as a flower mix. Recipe #1 in organics for beginners. water only

seeds are starting to crack

clones look as good and healthy as the day i cut them! very stoked about that. ive been adding a tiny bit of water to the vermiculite every couple days and spraying with the clonex.

i mixed up soil yesterday. i used a 10L pot for a part and mixed lc's mix #1.
5 parts peat moss
3 parts perlite
1 part ewc
1 part nitro humus ( a mixture of different composts)
3 cups of dolomite lime

I then wet it down with molasses and roots organics trinity (Ingredients: Molasses, Yucca Extract, Quillaja Extract, Kelp Extract, Soy Protein Hydrolysate, and Aloe Extract.
Contains Non-Plant Food Ingredient: 0.75% Humic Acid derived from Leonardite)
Both at 1T per gallon.

Notes:
100L=26gal=3.47 cuft

17 clones in 1 gallon=17gal in two weeks
20 seeds in 1 gallons=20gal today

need to mix 11 gallons of soil to transplant clones in 2 weeks.

20 seedling need up pot to 3 gallons in 2 weeks. = 40 gallons

total mix=50 gallons or 6.7 cuft or 189-190 liters. so round up to 200 liters....
10-10L buckets of peat
6-10L buckets of perlite
2-10L buckets of black gold ewc
2-10L buckets of kellog nitrohumus

testers 4 clones and 4 seedlings
4 clones need 4 gallons in 2 weeks of recipe #1
4 seedling testers need 8 gallons of recipe #1 in 2 weeks

taking 10 gallons of mix and amending it today for the 8 testers in 2 weeks.

all 20 seeds popped. as of 2 days ago i put them in 4" pots. im going to put them in the tallest party cups i can find tonight. i thinks letting the roots get that initial stretch is important.

all 16 clones look good a new and just starting to root. 2 days ago i pulled one out and it had no roots. last night i checked one and saw a 1/2 in root, yes 1 single root, poping out the side of her. should be good by tomorrow or the next day i imagine.
i havent watered the vermiculite in like 5 days and the clones still look perky and green. this is easily the best cloning system ive used and ive used em all. im usually all aero when cloning but this takes the cake fo sho.

pics either tonight or next week. Ill be at Austin city limits this weekend and have to catch a flight tomorrow!! gonna be ill!!!!

I think you'll be out of your rut in no time Captin, looking good do far. Do the damn thing!

clones got transplanted into 16oz styro cups. great roots with the vermiculite run. ill do it this way again for sure. seeds got re-transplanted cause i started them in little 4" cups and i wanted to cover up the stretched out stem up to the leaves.

it was tough on the seedlings going from the little cups to the bigger ones but they look okay today, and im sure it will be worth it. next time ill be prepared with the cups on hand when i germ.

seedling got peat/perlite dolomite lime@2T/gal soil
clones got cooked revs mix soil with blood, bone, kelp @ 1T/gal and dolomite lime @ 2T/gal. they are growing already and been in there 24 hours.

so far so good. seedlings were 3 or 4 inches of stem and then the tiny first set. i buried them up to the leaves with soil in the new cups.

peace

keeping up with the weekly routine.

keeping up with the weekly routine.

ive cut more clones. a lot more clones lol. vermiculite is the by far the best cloning medium i have ever used. homemade aero cloners no more!

anyway here are some pics of the new clones, the killing field f2 seedlings and the blackberry kush clones. we are at about 2 weeks i believe.
