Now I feel Old!!

I've worn glasses since the 4th grade. But I'm like you Piel, I never could get used to bi-focals. I have a separate pair for reading glasses too. Even though my eyes are pretty screwed (diplopia, astigmatism) the doc said my prescription was borderline for bifocals anyway. I can still see pretty small stuff with my regular specs.

But I don't like those plastic lenses that were pushed on us. They scratch no matter what. I've been very careful. Mine are still scratched. At $200 bucks a throw, that kinda sucks. Mine have anti-glare, anti-uv and whatever else they can coat the suckers with. Even though they're supposedly clear, they look tinted brown when using a white "soft cloth" towel to clean them.

I think I'll go back to just glass. Damn the weight, I'm used to it. I'll just get small lenses. I happen to think that those plastic lenses were just another screwing of the public by big oil companies pushing their plastic (made from oil). Bio-degradable plastic can be made from cellulose (hemp?) too, but no. Somebody needs another new Mcmansion? What the hell happened?

Getting old sucks. I don't recommend it.

.....JESUS, that sounds bitter. (Bent over, with cane, shakes fist, shouts) "Get off my lawn!" (Shakes head, mutters) "Damn kids"

Just got my first of pair of glasses ever, and bifocals at that. I'm with qdavid on the plastic lenses, they suck balls. I always wear glass sunglasses, they talked me into plastic. The plastic scratched the first time I cleaned them; I've had my sunglasses 3 years, nary a scratch.

Thought about two pair, but I like the bifocals for what I do indoors. Glass lens executive bifocals are what I want I think.

Anyone have prescription sunglasses, bifocal or not?

Wow at least you can see far away with out them I cant see close or far with out my glasses (or read or drive or walk) Scratches I thought that was just the fog moving in its easier to look through the spots that isnt as scratched as bad as others (and squinting helps too) Without my glasses everything is blurry <= is that 1 - r or 2 LOL
oh well take carre and be safe

Yeah plastic lenses suck. polycarbonate lasts longer than just plastic, they don't recommend glass because they shatter if hit by a flying object, their right glass does shatter if hit by something flying at you ( my experience )!!!!!

Im still on the single focals, so my biggest problem is finding them after I put them down, (I'm extremely short sighted), and considering the price of glasses these days, (last pair cost me £450, I've been weighing up the safety of that laser surgery. Did you consider that option sleepy, and if so what makes you buy glasses rather than having your eyeball cut open and shaved by a light sabre?

I took the risk 3 years ago, $3500, at 46 I've got 20/15 in one eye and 20/20 in the other. The doc said I would lose my up close vision, have to use reading glasses, but that did not happen. I had dry eye for about a year but thats better and not a problem any more. Best money I ever spent, Its freaking amazing.

Damn.....I'm going to have to get my eyes under a laser at some point soon.......I just went to the ref to get a drink (10ft away)......took off my glasses before I set out on this expedition......then spent 10 minutes trying to find my glasses again because I wanted to read a post on ICM.....got me real irritated, turned the sofa over, 2 chairs, emptied the fridge out, even looked under the dirty dishes in the sink.....and re-traced my steps inch-by-inch across the floor....

Turns out the glasses (spectacles) in question were hanging off the neck of the shirt I am wearing.......must be getting old/blind and partially brain-dead......lol (I'm only 50!)

yeah, I think you turn 40 then suddenly your arms aren't long enough to read the paper, they just put bi focal s on you at that time.

I have the no line ones with the non reflective lenses and like them ok. Did take some gettin used too tho.
