weird, thanks for continuing to share your thoughts, much of what has been going on in this thread since i starting coming here i find....i dunno, that there can be conflict in any sense between anyone claiming to follow Buddhism i find disingenuous at best, alarming at worst....and i have never felt Buddhism was something that needed to be cloaked in all the 12 dragons of the this and all the "trappings" associated with it,it all started under a tree after all,why does it need to be more complex than that?

its my pleasure to share with you uncle and to know it has a value to you is even more encouraging

i believe you hit head on the nail also with secreted enlightenment

its a filter in the most base sense, regardless of make or maker, that will filter the "elect" for whatever purpose

in my humble opinion this is an expression of the 3rd hell and one of the 3 evil paths

I know this will bother people, but I have more testimony regarding my experience but this is not a judgement strictly an observation

SECRET is the key, SELECT is another

its turning a philosophy, religion or way of life into a "power" that only "chosen" get to use

not much different than the rich greedy man who makes money and only lets certain people he likes have some

the spirit of humanity is greater than us, it around us all and we all have our unique glimpse and to see life truth in its fullness form a human perspective we need to be able to share and appreciate another

eyes of the world comes to mind, the dead song, one set of eyes give us one view of those around us, but what if we were to see the whole of our humanity, through the "eyes" mind and soul of every living being

you cant see the spirit of all of humanity through the eyes of a few

in my mind, where the spirit of humanity and the truth are congruent, there is the flower nichiren calls buddha

for me this spirit of humanity, which is revealed to me more and more as I learn to show people selfless compassion, is the unseen spirit that polarizes man against man in the name of science and religion

the spirit of humanity is real, it cant directly seen but it can touch you and you can add good or negative energy to it, this is your heritage

secreted religions and studies are part of the chaos magic, curse, ego that was designed to give people the illusion that the why they seek is pure BECAUSE THEY (the cursed ego that succumbs to chaos) can see past the secrets This is to keep us polarized against each other.

when the spirit of the truth and humanity unite many secrets are revealed for what they truly are

our greatest strengths are compassion faith and community and on those simple tenants let us all find a new foundation for acceptance and understanding so the truth may simply be revealed to us ALL

i think that if we look at the cannabis community or even the tech industry we can illustrate the difference between

open source and proprietary

im sure many of us who have been long time cannabis growers feel the relationship with the plant is so dynamic that it just doesn't feel right to not share the genes you have and help others find the same relief

others would clutch and hold their genes and skills like its a hidden treasure

having seen both play out im happy to live in the former

and those of us that have experienced the same may understand how i feel

YES!! thats it! to me the Buddha's message was that "enlightenment" was available to anyone, right thought, right action...the balance between the '"I" and the "We"...there is no "one" path, but one for each person who chooses to make the journey, our journeys may parallel, but they will inherently be unique,we can share and enrich each others journey, but in the end, each must walk every step on their own...

the thread seems to be loosing some momentum, so I will simply post some of the daily affirmations and teachings from the SGI website

Wisdom for Modern Life by Daisaku Ikeda Tuesday, October 12, 2010:

Today there are people who have faith in the Lotus Sutra. The belief of some is like fire while that of others is like water. When the former listen to the teachings, their passion flares up like fire, but as time goes on, they tend to discard their faith. To have faith like water means to believe continuously without ever regressing. -Nichiren

Admirable Nichiro, because you have read the entirety of the Lotus Sutra with
both the physical and spiritual aspects of your life, you will also be able to
save your father and mother, your six kinds of relatives, and all living beings.
Others read the Lotus Sutra with their mouths alone, in word alone, but they do
not read it with their hearts. And even if they read with their hearts, they do
not read it with their actions. It is reading the sutra with both one's body and
mind that is truly praiseworthy!

Take these teachings to heart, and always remember that believers in the Lotus
Sutra should absolutely be the last to abuse one another. All those who keep
faith in the Lotus Sutra are most certainly Buddhas, and one who slanders a
Buddha commits a grave offense.

It doesn't matter in what area, just keep working on your personal revolution to
transform and improve yourself in the way most natural for you. The important
thing is that you change in some positive way. There is surely no more
exhilarating a life than one in which we write our own unique history of human
revolution each day. And the growth and transformation we achieve in this way
can convince people of the greatness of the Daishonin's Buddhism more eloquently
than anything else.

It is important to have a sufficiently elevated life-condition so that you will
be able to calmly accept whatever happens in life, striving to put problems into
proper perspective and solving them with a positive attitude. Happiness blossoms
forth from such a strong and all-encompassing life-condition.

Nature is like a mirror

Nature is like a mirror. It remains still, but I move. It seems unchanging, yet I am constantly changing. The mirror of nature reflects my inner world, the essence of humanity, and the great, all-embracing expanse of life itself. Only when we are connected to nature, engaged with nature, are we truly alive and vigorous. To really be alive, one must be under the sun, the moon, the shining stars and surrounded by the beautiful greenery and pure waters of the natural world.

Changing own destiny

Ultimately, we are responsible for our own destiny. It may seem to us that our fate is predetermined, whether by our genes or by our environment. What really matters, however, is how we can improve ourselves from this moment forward, how we can change the circumstances that we find ourselves in. This enormous transformative force is what Buddhism is all about. In this struggle lies the source of never-ending youth and vitality.

Chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo for the happiness of others

In Nichiren Buddhism, we are encouraged to chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo for the happiness of those who—for whatever reason—displease, anger or even hurt us. Often this is not easy. But, inevitably, we come to see the better side of most people.

The good and evil of human life

Buddhism teaches that human life is endowed simultaneously with both good and evil. The human mind is interpreted as partaking of ten different conditions, or states, including, at one end of the scale, hell, which is filled with suffering; hunger, dominated by greed; and animality, characterized by fear of the strong and contempt for the weak. At the other end are the Bodhisattva and Buddha conditions—states of mind in which people strive to help others by eliminating suffering and imparting happiness. Buddhism further teaches that the nature of life is for good and evil to be essentially inseparable.

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"The hearts of those enlightened to the highest truth of the Mystic Law cannot be controlled by even the most powerful secular authority. Even if their spirit may appear for a time to be shackled and oppressed by the powers that be, they continue to wage an unceasing inner struggle that eventually severs all chains and allows them to achieve a brilliant spiritual victory in this world. This triumph of human dignity and the sanctity of life is what will lead to the realisation of a peaceful and prosperous land based on the correct teaching."

From Commentaries On Buddhahood. Lessons on the Writings of Nichiren Daishonin. Letter from Sado. Soka Gakkai Study Dept. Page 33.

By meeting persecution in this lifetime, we can stop the endless downward spiral of negative causation leading us into the hell of incessant suffering. This is why Nichiren calls persecution a blessing.

The perspective of "eradicating karmic offense" is a focus on erasing the influence of negative karma over one's life. Although we cannot actually undo our past in order to make our negative karma disappear, we can eradicate the control it exerts over our lives.

Nam myoho renge kyo

I have experienced that ( a lifetime of suffering through persecution) and the resulting turn of karmic energy I had inherited.

Part of the selfless giving was out of reverence for the wake of energy that was left by those before me and the understanding that as a representative of such the proverbial buck could stop with me

instead of denying those who came before me I simply took ownership of the good, bad and ugly and made a decision to change it in my lifetime

its a journey that took most literally a lifetime, I am just seeing that its real, that the intuition that i do this thing, suffer the persecution and hold true to the feeling that how we react to the world does leave a ripple

i tried will all my heart to change that energy, without a promise of equitable reconciliation

the chanting was very much the "seed' of understanding that allowed me to see that yes, what had felt was indeed true and that further more was not unrequited

this is the faith fulfilled bringing indomitable joys that i mention

"its more than just ashes, when your dreams come true"

Sorry I have not been able to post! I'm in another country and will be home soon. Had to attend my uncle's destination wedding and I'll be back in gear very soon!

Much love to all and thanks for keeping the thread moving and grooving. I'm all about grooving and I can't wait to get back in sync with my favorite people in the world: THE CHANTING GROWERS!!!!

"The present age has developed exactly as the Buddha predicted it would, and Nichiren may be the person of wisdom whom the Buddha described. Though some people wish to help me, either their determination is weak, or, though firmly resolved, they are unable to act on their intentions. Thus, you are one of the very few whose action match their will. You surpass others in your resolve, and it is because of your devoted support that I have been able to survive."

Wisdom for Modern Life by Daisaku Ikeda

Overcoming the four sufferings

Overcoming the four sufferings of birth, old age, sickness and death is not just a matter of theory. We mustn't move away from the issues of how we can lead healthy, fulfilling and long lives, and how we can die without suffering. Buddhism teaches the wisdom that enables us to do this. 31/8

Interconnectedness of all life

Buddhism stresses the interconnectedness of all life. It is only the limited capacity of our senses that causes us to place so much stock in the separation between "them" and "us." Because of this interconnectedness, by using violence, you not only injure or destroy the other person but also yourself. Those who use violence and devalue others' lives actually devalue and ruin their own lives. 30/8

All prayer of the practitioner of the Lotus Sutra are answered

Though one might point at the earth and miss it, though one might bind up the sky, though the tides might cease to ebb and flow and the sun rise in the west, it could never come about that the prayers of the practitioner of the Lotus Sutra would go unanswered. -Nichiren 29/8

Anger and ego

Anger is fundamentally an arrogant state of life. People in the state of anger are attached to the illusory assumption that they are better than others and direct their energy toward sustaining and enhancing this image. To ensure that others think of them in similarly glowing terms, they can never reveal their true feelings. Instead, they act obsequiously while a burning desire to surpass all others is their exclusive focus. With their inner feelings and their outward appearance out of accord, they don't speak from the heart. Buddhism teaches that the heart is most important. Of two people making comparable efforts, the results will differ greatly if one person is motivated by a value that transcends the self—good, beauty, the well-being of others—while the other is motivated by ego.
