plantlightinghydroponics, don't stock as much as some other stores. however what they do stock they buy pallet loads of them and sell them at great prices. give them a shot. you won't be sorry.

I buy my bulbs there and if I needed anything else I at least check them to see if they have it.

growlightexpress.com are cheap for some things as well.

Sometimes I worry they use the lights then sell them at lower prices. Does hortilux even allow this? I thought companies usually had unwritten rules about selling so freaking cheap..

So you think my paranoia is just that? Think I should go ahead and order a couple?

i'd call em.
And ask what? If the price is right or is there something wrong with them?

Hortilux Full Spectrum Blue Metal Halide Grow Bulbs

Hortilx Blue Spectrum Metal Halide lamps provide a near perfect replication of natural light. Used professionally for Pharmacology, Biotechnology, and Plant Physiology research. Blue, Green, Red light ratio is very similar to sunlight and optimizes plant growth. High Kelvin Temperature and 90+ CRI qualifies this lamp for all purpose growth as well as for enhanced vegetative growth.

Starting July 1st 2010 Eye Hortilux requires us to show their Minimum Advertised Price on our website. This policy also forces us to substantially raise our minimum selling prices 50% so Hortilux can protect local Retailers selling prices. We are offering a Freight allowance on all Hortilux products that offsets the local retailers walk in purchase advantage. You may select any shipping option which is offset by the freight allowance.

Eye Hortilux has instructed their distributors to stop selling plantlightinghydroponics Hortilux branded products because we refuse to sell their products at an artificial price, established by Hortilux, that is 50% higher than our regular selling prices. Hortilux lamps will be discontinued as we run out of stock. We will be offering replacement products equal to or with better performance than Hortilux branded products at discounted prices.

Interesting, so it IS too low for Hortilux's comfort and they are demanding that plantlightinghydroponics.com raise their prices? So in response plantlightinghydrponics.com isn't selling hortilux bulbs anymore? Did I read that right? So they are fine, hortilux bulbs being sold; at fair prices?!? :jump:
Thanks vta

Yea.....Hortilux will not sell to someone that won't use their pricing.

I like the fact they are more about selling to hydro wholesalers than the internet. The internet is killing alot of biz for stores. Stores are better than the net IMO. The customer support and fact I can bring shit back that has a warranty is big to me. But thats just me.

Hmm.. Makes me wonder if I should double my order since thats what I was going to do anyways, and have replacements because I may not see this price again... 124.99 PFT. I knew that was completely inflated.

Stores will never die, most people want to have that store experience. It's more secure than buying off the internet.

MSRP is the manufacturers set retail price, this is the price that they want people to sell their products for. This isn't always a gaurantee, you can sell things indoors as part of sales and 'specials'. a special can be anything from a BOGO, to buying two different items and getting the light half off. It's all marketing and sales, it's hairy.

Pureknowledge, then you have to buy the hood keep it cool. Some people don't have the space for a 1000watter :moon:, why bother buying a 1000watter for veg? too intense for plants imho.

So I bought it.. They did'nt come in white hortilux boxes but came in those brown thick corrugated cardboard sleeves, with the pinched ends. It says EYE HID LAMP with the EYE logo.. 250W MT250D-E39/41R..

Also, it says the lamp can cause serious skin burns and eye inflammation from shortwave ultraviolet radiation if outer envelope of the lamp is broken or punctured.

Who runs a light that is broken? I didn't even know they ran if its cracked/broken open. I assume if you wear good eye protection and clothes, its not bad to spend an "extended" period of time in the room? The lamps are not broken lol.

For those on a budget, cheapo quality bulbs!!! (no really!!!)

For those on a budget, cheapo quality bulbs!!! (no really!!!)

(In re-reading the Original Post, I see you needed a MH bulb, these ballastkit guys have deals on metal halide bulbs also, to be sure. )
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Comparable products to hortilux are entering the marketplace such as these Ultra Sun bulbs that are priced very competitively with a 1000 watt HPS being currently 39.95 with free shipping at 75 U.S. dollars @ http://www.ballastkit.com/ , a reliable trustworthy purveyor that also sell the ballasts and various repair parts as well as an assortment of other bulb brands too.

As you can see, these enhanced grow bulb prices seem to good to be true...yet they are. :)

150W Ultra Sun #901523 16.95
250W Ultra Sun #901529 ( +$1.00 )
400W Ultra Sun #901528 ( +$1.00 )
600W Ultra Sun #901526 ( +$20.00 )
1000W Ultra Sun #901531 ( +$23.00 )

Manufacturers description:
Ultra Sun HPS light bulbs are specifically engineered for superior plant growth.
These lamps are enhanced for the correct spectrum and performance.
The Ultra Sun HPS lamp's spectrum and output rival other top horticulture brands such as Hortilux, Sunmaster and SolarMax but cost as much as 60% less.
One year warranty is included.
High Pressure Sodium light bulbs provide the spectrum of light that the plant uses for flowering, fruiting and budding stages.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Try em, I think you'll like em, with a one year warranty this Ultra Sun brand is worth a look see.
Other online mail order companies sell these too, but all others that I have found charge more.
I have no relationship to this company other than being a satisfied customer.

Happy gardening Y'all,
IMB :)

plantlighting rocks!, ship the orders out the same day usually or the next morning.
they have great customer service and most of their prices are competitive if not cheaper.
and the don't try to rip you on the shipping.

I agree. It was a very nice experience, and will be going back to them for future lighting needs. Very fast, reasonably priced, shipping.
