what would change tap water ph?

I think there's two different kinds of high PH water. Real alkaline water has a high PPM of 300 or more and has minerals that can raise the PH of the medium too. Artificiall high PH water starts out soft and acid, but is raised to prevent organic reactions and interaction with the supply pipes. I think the hard water has more capacity to raise the PH of the growing medium than the artificially raised water.

is that ppm bad?

and coupld someone suggest what supplimentws i should be using with vitalink max bloom... ph of 5.5 in res... drip fed clay pebbles recirculating... gonna be switching to r/o water end of this week so some info would be mad appreciated

Anything that you can't filter out is bad. The key to RO is that we know exactly what is in our water, because put it there prior to mixing the ferts/adds Any ph over 300 in metro areas isn't somehing I recommend. Vitalnk+.. I didn't know that was a base. I don't know about it. haven't really heard about anyone using it.

as soon as i get to the store for my cal mag and what not ima be using r/o water and will be aquiring an r/o machine asap
