Sat. August 7 6:00 PM
High Noon Saloon presents

"Legalize Pot-Luck" a Benefit for Madison NORML
Max ohM
NeeHigh
Kenny Mack

6:00PM / no cover / 21 and up / Donations Accepted

Please come down to the High Noon for a free event to support and inform
about the legalization of marijuana. Music will be on from 6pm til the
party ends! Bring a healthy attitude on marijuana legislation and come
with best wishes for individuals persecuted by our outdated,
hypocrisy-riddled, and unjust marijuana laws. Help spread your opinions
and enjoy some good music with like-minded individuals focused on
change. We probably all know someone persecuted in some way by this
outdated system, so please bring your stories and any media/art/song you
wish to share amongst the masses. This event is entirely free, but all
are encouraged to leave a small or large donation in our charity jar for
Madison NORML.

DJ's are as follows:

6pm-8pm Kenny Mack - old-school "Steppin" Soul Music

Steppin is a derivative of several African American dance forms, The
Ring-Shout, The Cakewalk, The Jitterbug, The Swing, The Offtime, The
Bop, and The New Bop in particular. It is a dance consisting of two or
more people dancing as partners in synchronization to a 6 or 8 count
beat to musical sounds of Jazz, Soul, Funk, R&B, Neo Soul, or Rap music.

8pm-9:30pm (Brett) NeeHigh - Dancehall/Reggae

Dancehall is a genre of Jamaican popular music. A more sparse version of
reggae, it also speaks on politics and religion but not as directly as
roots style, which at the time was associated with the Rastafari
movement, and which had dominated much of the 1970s. In the mid-1980s,
digital instrumentation became more prevalent, changing the sound
considerably, with digital dancehall (or "ragga") becoming increasingly
characterized by faster rhythms.

9:30-12am (or longer if the party keeps ragin') Max Ohm - Dubstep

Dubstep is a genre of electronic dance music. Its' overall sound has
been described as "tightly coiled productions with overwhelming bass
lines and reverberant drum patterns, clipped samples, and occasional
vocals".

So if i understand this right, this is just a dane county referendum, but even if it passes will NOT make MMJ legal in WI, but help show the state legislators, that people in WI DO want legal MMJ.

Quote from article on WI NORML page (click to see full article)
"If the Dane County referendum were to pass, it would have a negligible effect in and of itself. Simply by passing, it would not actually allow the use of medicinal marijuana in Dane County, nor would it have any legal implications for the next legislative session. Rather, it would be used as an indication to state legislators that the public is in favor of introducing legislation that allows medicinal marijuana in Wisconsin. "

So Best case scenario, it would probably be 2011 when it's legal right?

Yes balla420, you are correct. We are hoping other cities, villages and counties have this on their ballot. The hope is to make it a media issue also.

tell your friends to be at the march from the end of State Street at Library mall Sunday by 3pm. March to the Capitol where we hold a rally at the Capitol steps starting at 4:20, with a band and speakers. We're even hoping Willie Nelson comes (ask him -facebook, e-mail, etc- to come and say "high" at the rally) We were 10,000 strong last year, let's go for 100,000 this year.

Special guests Pinkerton and members of Dead Mans Carnival Milwaukee Circus, Vaudeville, Variety, Sideshow, Jugglers, Magicians, Clowns, Mime will be present.

This year is a huge bash. Let's get fired up for the next legislative session and get the law reformed.

Madison NORML Examiner: The first Great Midwest Marijuana Harvest
Festival: Sept. 25, 1971 -

MADISON: After I reported the first Harvest Fest had it's roots as an
anti-war rally, I heard from "a reliable source" who was among the
organizers of the first of what will be 40 marijuana harvest festivals
this weekend. The source, who wishes to go unnamed, shared some memories
of the first fest

Folks, we were severely under funded as an organization the last legislative session. This year at the Great Midwest Marijuana Harvest Festival, make sure you stop by the Madison/Wisconsin NORML table and pick up a shirt or give a donation.
We could really use a 5 digit donation this year.

Thanks to all who came out to make this year a very happening event.

As those who attended heard over the weekend, there is a protest of Julie Lassa, who killed Wisconsin's medical marijuana bill on Tuesday October 5, 2010 in Madison next to Monona Terrace at the Madison Club.

Here is the Facebook Event:

Just show up. All you have to do is stand or sit there. Bring lawn chairs if you want. Just be there. You don't have to tell people your name if you don't want, you don't have to be in pictures. You don't have to bring a sign, but you can and some people will. You don't have to sign up on Facebook.

What we are doing is sending a message that saying no to marijuana law reform in Wisconsin is not an option.

All you have to do is show up. It really is that easy.

Let us know if you have media ... send us some links we'd love to see some pics and footage of the 40th Great Midwest Marijuana Harvest Festival.

What are your suggestions for next year?
