Newb going for a top yield grow 1st time

My first three crops all went to crap with nute burns, deficiencys, heat stress, etc - all resulting in less than decent yields. I'm now on my 4th crop, and this time it looks as if all is going to work out good. Also it should be noted that I only grew the easier strains - no long flowering, nute sensitive sativas.

Listen to these good folks when they tell you to downsize. believe me - you are going to be so freaking disappointed if you invest the kind of money you are talking about into your first grow-op.

IME growing good bud is not hard. Ebb & Flow, Lucas formula. But maximizing yield IS hard. Getting to a gram per watt IS hard. Good luck (expect about .5 grams per watt and you won't be disappointed).

Yeh Cheers Dude, I read all over the site about this gramm per watt, is that per plant? I.e each plant gramm per watt or all the plants total gramm per watt?
So if i got 10 plants i could get the same yield as 20 plants with the same amount of wattage?
Cheers in advance

Yep, that.

However, bigger yields per plant requires bigger plants that take longer to veg, so the whole grow cycle will take longer unless you have a separate vegging room.

But, depending on your local laws and sentencing policy, keeping the number of plants down can significantly reduce the penalties associated with getting busted.

1g per watt = 1kg for a 1000W lamp, like this.....

3X3 EBB/FLOW TRAY, 1000W HPS, 36 CLONES STRAIGHT ON TO 12/12, 36 SINGLE COLAS LIKE THIS

picture.php

ONE COLA TRIMMED, TOTAL OF 36 COLAS LIKE THIS AND A TRAY OF CLONES

Just over 1g per watt.

Yeah .5g/w is just my experience with bushes. I'm trying SOG now because I keep reading higher numbers from people who have run SOGs. And it makes sense, really, when you look at a 18" stick you've got to have a minimum of .25z a stick or you're doing something really wrong, and you can fit 64-100 of the things under a 1k at 4 per square foot.

Alfie.. don't let the nay sayers slow you down.. you grab the bull by the horns and go for it... just be prepared for a couple issues along the way on your first couple cycles.. I would agree with making it a rotating thing as you can stagger the introduction and harvest of plants.. maybe 6 in, 6 out every couple weeks might work.. That's what I do on a MUCH smaller scale.. 2 in every 2 weeks, 2 out every 2 weeks.. just a personal use scale. The potential for disaster is definitely there, but that same potential happens every time you put a key in the ignition.. that don't stop us from drivin now does it? Just make a good game plan, execute it and see what happens.. good luck!

manicured bud from my first grow.. didn't have a clue what I was doing.. just followed the instructions on GH's website for feeding.. grew 4 plants and had 6 of these plus a bunch of popcorn on top.. (Paradise Whiteberry)

Well the countdown is now on, i am germinating some of gypsy nirvana's top seeds,

I am half way through arranging a room but am in need of advice, the room is 3.7 metres by 3.2 metres with chiminey breast on the 3,2metre,,
i went to the grow shop and he has reccomended that i buy a xxxxl grow tent with x6 600 watt lights, i am also going to use the 24 pot iws flood and drain system, looks like low mantinance and i cannot do soil for stealth reasons, the tent measures 3.6m by 2.4 metre so will squeeze in the room,

What do the seasoned growers here think on that one?
Would i also be able to suck air from the room and would i have to get a small a/c unit in the tent to keep the temp down?
I am intending to suck out to the chimney breast! Would c02 canister make a difference here? And to have the fan running 24/7 or just when the lights are on?

Any advice most appreciated,
thanks for the comments so far

P.S i have brought a 36 plant heated areoponic propagator, just waiting for the seeds to germinate then will get the room finished

FFS Finish the room first and then germinate the seeds.

You say you're looking for top yields off of loads of plants on your first grow, but you haven't even got a basic plan together?

Sorry mate, I don't want to sound rude, but I have to be blunt:
Get yourself a grow-tent with a four or six-hundred Watt HPS and learn for a few grows. You'll save yourself a pretty penny!

Whats the dilemma? I dont see much more that needs plans?

I got a veg cupboard, i have blacked out the room, now its just a question of do i go with the store guys advise on selling me a tent at £500 notes or just use the room as it is. I Do have a basic plan but am asking for advice, you dont have to reply to my thread if it doesnt interest you....
sick of haters, i have not grown for a very long time and need to get back into the swing of it. ......

A little extra info for you pompey monkey, I only have 10 seeds germinating, I guessing it will take at least 3 weeks to be able to take cuttings from these and find the ones i will want for clones so there is no rush on for me here, the room can be done in less then a day, if i go with the tent even less time set up.
