Once again NSPB, thanks for the great reply. When i wet it down, it was lightly...this stuff is moist to the touch. The weather is getting cold out here. I do think we may have a few hot days left. Ill be sure to put it outside. My only worry is this soil will be used indoors and if left outdoors possible contaminants may show up indoors right? I guess the high temperature is what you rely on?

Currently are highs are 80-70
and lows are around 50.

Two weeks minimum still? Is the dolomite lime have to be in there for two weeks as well?

I really appreciate the help.

I find the fox farm soils get real hot and if you dont baby the plants they will die,,,not to say you cant get good results but why not spend less use a quality mix i mentioned above and cns for fert,,,yuo will be happy., real happy and its ph balanced

If trying to compost outside, take burlap as the first layer of cover and then use a large dark colored tarp over that to attract heat. I'd not worry much about contamination, unless you know it is exposed and having all kinds of things blowing into it.

I honestly don't compost at "high" temperatures. In fact, I don't measure the temperatures at all... I know the room the nutrients are stored in has a humidifier and a heat good space heater. I keep the room temperate...seems to work fine for me and has for years.

But yes, heat is important. A compost that is cold will not have the effect you are really hoping to achieve. And yes, I'd make sure to compost the lime in the mix. If you can't do this, add it as soon as you can, and I'm sure by the end of an 8wk flowering cycle (at minimum) you will be seeing the benefits of it in the soil. Better to have it in your mix, even if late...than not at all.

If you shop at the grow store get a 15 or 20% discount, cause they tax and do that shit for anyone who asks.

If you shop at home depot: go to the post office, get a change of address envelope, snag the "10% off Home Depot" coupon, and boom, discount.

id bet you could get away with planting straight into that mix. once you add your dolo and remix, wet it down lightly and give it a day. then plant. your building a soil, not compost right?

I mixed the following, roughly...

3 parts peat moss
1.5 parts fox farm ocean forest
1 part perlite
1 part earth worm castings
10 tbsp of age old grow powder
4 oz geohumus

I wet this mix down with dechlorinated water with a bit of FF big bloom. This mix should be a bit hot for seedlings but this is for a well rooted late veg plant. I have dolomite lime coming in the mail. Ill add some before transplant.
