Is there any residual stuff on the sides of the buckets? any eggs? anything of the sort?
are buckets completely sealed? Is your room sealed?

i haven't noticed any eggs or anything of that sort. i do see little flyers inside the DWC area.

room is not completely sealed. the buckets can NOT be completely sealed. I think the clones were infected from a bad mother (the mother's water was pretty wretched). But that is all cleared up now.

The bad part is these plants are infected with those black crawly worm like creatures. I'm sure they aren't good for my system. Just want to know what I can do about them....

wow, I know Azatrol would kill them. eventually. it takes too long, for this though you'd be over run. hmm...

I would go to the local hydro shop and buy some Azatrol, and ask the guy there what in combination with the azatrol you can buy that has a quick knock down of those bastards. Make sure he knows it needs to go in the res...

jeebus you need more help than I can offer. I'd go to the hydro store with pics of the roots.

can anyone help this guy?

Okay #1 stop them in your house altogether find out where they are coming in and see if you can stop that. There is DE for moths or Molasses but it depends on the moth you have to find out what kills this moth as each one is different and if you see the larvae pick them off and kill them manually this is always an option. Look for the eggs and do a rinse if necessary to help the plant . It might put it into shock and for this you can use vit B. It's better then letting the roots get eaten by this larvae. peace out Headband707

yes, idk how open roots would react to the 10000ppm co2 trick as well but i feel like it should work...dont quote me on that though

Easy fix dude. If you want to go the safe route use Safer Caterpillar killer and use at 75% recommended strength. Let roots sit in the water if possible or just spray down the root zone. This works on all kinds of larvae and should take care of yours. Make sure water is PH'ed for least amount of stress on plants.

The other option that I haven't tried but other recommend it dissolving those mosquito pellets in water and using those. Not sure on dosage.

Let me know by PM how it works for ya. It has always worked for a variety of caterpillars, never seen the black ones you are talking about however. Good luck and take care.

BTW - I would use right before a reservoir change. I always give the root zone a good soak (I have ebb and flow tables) then let the safer drain into my res, then I make a res change. The bugs just have to eat a little and they will die. So if you let it stay in contact with the bugs for 5 min you should be good. You may have to repeat 7-10 days later to get the eggs that are left behind. If you read the label it tells you how it works, but basically it makes them starve themselves, so they wont die right away, but they stop making damage and die within days. Let me know if you have any other questions, by way of PM as I don't have this thread tagged. Hope all this helps you out.

For now just leave 'em. Get mosquito dunks and add them to the rez. They will die and future larvae will die. Any attempt to remove them from this delicate environment will harm your plants. Get the mosquito dunks stat bro.

Edit: Didn't read Bulldogs post.. Sounds good to me.
