So I have a few plants ready this commong week and I snuck a bud to smoke early before flushing. I am hopeing the finished stuff doesnt taste like this early stuff. Is this normal that it would taste that bad?

Quick drying bud will make it lose its aroma and taste like shit. This is normal.

A lot of the aroma/taste will also be lost after harvest when you dry the bud, but will slowly return as you cure.

I made a cabnet with a carbon filter and drying racks with screens big enough to dry 5 or 6 plants at a time. It has a small fan to suck the air through the carbon filter but I dont think the small draft through the cabnet speeds drying. It took 4 or 5 days to dry till the stem snapped instead of bending.

hhhmmmm...Hope all this bud is smokeable. It sure gets you medicated,,,,,just tastes not that great

4 or 5 days drying to snap is very quick and would ruin the buds somewhat. If you can dry over 2 to 3 weeks its much better.

Obviously a flush is going to help loads if your growing hydro.

Sounds like I need to slow down the fan in that cabnet so it is just barely moveing. Just enough to carry the smell into the carbon filter. I guess I need to look at what types of cabnets/boxes and fans to dry their bud. I could just do it in my grow room inside a cardboard box if I could find one the right shape.

Shit...that cabnet was alot of work...not to mention the diy carbon filter which I mcguyvered from pvc and screen....

I don't dry to the point of snapping stems. That's too dry and curing won't happen past that point. To get a good cure, you need to jar the bud while there's still enough moisture to let the stems bend a bit.

Yeah, as Mr Greengenes said..

Also, not all bud tastes good. In fact, I'm inclined to believe, some bud tastes bad due to genetic reasons. So try another strain if you need to. If $$ is an issue, Nirvana has some great strains for cheap$

Yeah, I also find that drying untill stems snap is too dry for me. In the beginning though I was always told "dry till stems snap then jar it" but mine always tasted like hay or sheet. Now I leave some moisture in them before jaring and it works perfectly.

I have found that its completely pointless to take samples of your grow and expect the finished product to be anywhere close to similar.

If you grow it right, if you flush it, and if you properly dry and cure it. I don't care what strain you grow, it will be good.

Agreed, I had some beautiful purple gorilla buds that when dry were very mild, though tasty. A week of curing later and it's still tasty, but very potent! Amazing what some time will do.

I dont dry until stems are snapping either. And 4 to 5 days drying.unless it is pounds isnt too fast. You just dont want to completely dry it out.Leave some moisture inside for curing.Throw it in a jar...When it starts to register 65 to 70 humidity for atleast an hour....Start burping it every few hours. And keep it out of light.

You do that and you will have good smelling and tasting bud everytime.
