Mounting 6" vortex in DR120

So I got my new DR120 in, im super pumped its badass. Running a 600w digi in an aircooled hood with 6" ducts and a 6" vortex (424 cfm).

Any of you guys have any pics on how your mounting your vortex? Ild prefer to have the fan INSIDE the tent. From what I can find on the net seems like most are mounting it outside, and I can see why, placement is proving to be a bit problematic with the width on the DR120 I really cant make a straight shot from the tent vent - ducting - vortex -ducting - aircooled hood-ducting- to the tent vent.

There is a tent vent on the roof that is placed towards the back of the tent, I suppose I could use that one instead of the ones that are placed at the midline. Anyone have any idea what Im talking about? Anyone got pics of how they have their fans mounted inside the tent. The 6" vortex is pretty damn big and heavy so it needs a certain placement. Might be an overkill as far as ventilation goes but I have a fan controller.

i used this same set up at my bros, hes down south so i cant take pics sorry. his filter and fan hang in the rear of the tent, then the 6 in duct bends around and through a sealed hood. but the way they have the tent designed looks like its meant for two fans, one for the tent and one for the hood...youd vent the carbon filter up through the hole in top, and run air through the sealed hood, unfiltered.

the 6 in vortex is a bit strong for a 4x4 tent, try using the speed control it will help !!

Gracious......the thing I'm having a hard time figuring out is how to mount the vortex and ducting so I can raise and lower the light properly. Doesn't look like there's enough room to mount the vortex and enough ducting to lower the light in a straight shot from the two vents on either side of the tent. Maybe there is but it'll be freaking tight. Ild have to scruntch the ducting up to raise the light. Anyone got any pics of how they have their can fans or vortex type fans mounted in a dr120?

Or any more suggestions I'm all ears!! Thanks for the input whod!

In my DR100 tent I use the rubber straps with hooks on the end. You can get them at any hardware store.

i mount my vortex next to the hood, with ducting exhausting the air out one side... no ducting on the other side, creates negative pressure,

i leave the bottom unzipped slightly for a passive air intake, keeps tent at room temp.

Schrews....do you find you have enough ducting to lower your light? Doesn't look like much is there but then again you might just have It compressed together?

Funkb- how do you have the fan mounted to the tent vent itself? With a short piece of ducting?

I don't air-cool my reflector in my tent. I have the fan pulling through the filter with ducting, and then exhausting out the top of the tent with another small run of ducting.

hey funkbomb and ozz. how much noise do your tents make with everything on? as much as a loud computer? or much more?
have been looking at a DR100 with 600w and 6" vortex? just wonder if its a possibility as stealth would be a concern. as would heat. it would have to be vented into the same room as itd be in. temps are almost always below 86. any thoughts would be much appreciated.:thank you:

Goldy, will you be able to keep the temperatures down with some sort of cool form of air constantly entering? Stealth and anything above 4' is really hard to pair together unless you're mounting the fans in the attic.

With a 6 inch inline getting exhausted back into the same room, you will have stealth problems concerning anyone who may enter the premise, still unlikely to receive too much outside attention. 600 watts of heat being recycled back into itself might be a bigger issue, depending on your room size.

I was actually going to ask why I haven't read of more people placing all the really loud airflow in the attic. Inline fans are strong and rated to run all day even under higher temperatures.

I have seen others who have chosen recirculate their exhaust air and have used things from coolers to large rubbermaid bins as an end point for the air to get muffled and disperse.

I keep my tent in my bedroom with a lock on the door. The tent heats the room up some, but since the weather is getting cold it's not a big problem. I have a small window fan in one of the windows if it gets too humid or warm. During the summer I had a window AC in there and it did the trick very well.
