Hey All,

Just got back from the Canna Expo in San Fran. Looked high and low for something worth spending my hard earned dollars on and found one.

Most of the show was more of the same, Da Purps, Cheese, Cough, Kush, don't get me wrong some nice samples, but nothing to turn heads.

Then I found this guy from Santa Cruz with "Pure OG", he stated it was from '95 and I sure couldnt' argue with the guy, it's dank.

It was funny how many people were upselling what was supposed to be imported from the Dam. You're in Nor Cal people , better recognize.

Amsterdam please.


Anyway, thought I share this Bud Porn with yah, of "Pure Kush" from Santa Cruz, Ca. (passed on the clones the first day, he was out the second. guess I'm driving to Santa Cruz)

looks a little different from the pure kush that me and some others were running. that looks alot like a durban/kush cross that i see sometimes that people call girlscoutcookie in SF. looks dank though! how does yours taste? does it have the classic kushy lemon fuel taste?

heres the pure kush i ran last year in FFOF with FF nutes....its a low yeilder but super lemony. has the strongest lemony kush taste ive experianced and ive dabbled in many different OG cuts including the fire and some of the OG crosses out there.

I exaggerated the purples in the first pic to show how much there was in it.

I know Kush's don't generally have purple hues, but it didn't have the word kush only OG. So I did a little search and all the Pure OG's I saw looked more like yours.

The smoke is really good and smooth, no lemon fuel taste at all, but not a purple taste either. I'll have to pay more attention when I smoke it next.

The guy had a booth along with clones, and its a shame he's not calling this what it is. A very nice 2hr head, and couch lock.
Def on the Indica side of things.

I did get the guys number as he was out of clones, so I plan to call him to get more info on this strain.
Whatever its going around Santa Cruz because that's where his collective or dispensary is.

He can call it whatever he wants, but I sure want a cut of it.

Thanx Green, you get the drift. I tried outside, inside, everything and just coudn't quite get the light right. This Coolpix camera sucks balls. I want my Canon back.

If this is just regular weed, it doesn't say much for the Expo with 15-20k in attendance. I looked at everything, and this was one of the more interesting strains I ran into.

Sure I might of had something better to post up, if people were vending their personal that took 80 days to flower, but they just didn't seem to be that compassionate. LOLZ

not that its not dank ... but that said ... its just another case of a nor cal grower trying to chase the so-cal connoisseur kush craze while not having a true connoisseur cut only kush. this is a prolific problem in nor cal and especially in the emerald triangle. its why so many people believe that "cut only kush" is just hype. they try something like this and say damn thats dank... but thats it ... how is it any different than the dank in my closet.
many collectives do this over and over again. calling bubba crosses o.g., calling green dank kush, even swearing by it. distributing the cuts, trying to build a rep for their own "elite genetics", whatever.
in the end by the pic and smoke description it is neither the "pure" or p.k. or the "o.g.". it could be a cross of both or either or neither. but the "kush" flavor in all elite cuts is not true breeding at all...hence "elite cut only genetics"
name your strain anything you want, but remember he is only cutting off his own foot. while initially selling out of his beautiful cuts and product. the patients and caregivers, as well as the collectives who bought them, will soon rename them or let them go for lack of sales.becaue the actual "public" customer base expects one thing when it comes to kush, the pure , og , sour-d, ect...
they expect a lemon fuel / deisel type flavor that runs the entire joint. you should be able to let a roach sit for a week , pick it up, give it fire and taste fuel...period.... that is what the "kush" craze is.
not to say that it isnt good, or even great, but as far as most of the patients in california, well its not a kush...lol
this behavior is what separates a connoisseur high quality club in hollywood from almost every club in nor cal. the nor cal clubs dont care at all usually, try to chase fads without any real research, and play name games on both cuts and smoke.
a hollywood club plays name games too. jupiter og, fire og, underdawg og, the pure, skywalker o.g. ect...ect... who knows which o.g. cut it really is...
the difference is that when their customers buy their product it tastes like lemon diesel fuel...its an o.g.(as far as the custie is concerned)
that flavor is not true breeding in almost all types of cannabis. you can thank guys like Sam the Skunkman and Neville for that.
by breeding out the roadkill skunk, and fuel type phenos in almost all forms of cannabis traded around the world for over thirty years they and their colleagues in the Dam and around the world literally created this cut only sensation/craze without knowing it...
looks good though... id grow it...id burn it too....

Yeah, Jd, I hear yah. Most of the great weed here in N. Cal is home grown and not to be had at the dispensarys.
I didn't think it was a pure kush, but i hadn't heard of Pure OG, and wasn't sure if that was even a reference to Kush or not, even though the OG name is pretty synomomous with Kush.
All I know is when I was there, there was a ton of GDP, Widow, Cough, Urkle and the usual suspects at different degrees.
This just happened to look different than anything else, with a nice tight bud structure, trichs and smell.
If I would of posted anything else I had found that day, save some of the kiefs and BTO's (which were nice) I would of even gotten more flack than I have. LOLZ

hmmm looks nothing like the pure og i have seen in socal medical dispenceries. mine has huge fat green calyxs covered in enough powdery trics to make it look lime green. Mine smells really sour, musty,almost spicy, with lightly citrusy pine undertone.

When you said, "I exaggerated the purples in the first pic to show how much there was in it." So did you photo shop on that picture? how did you "exagerate the purples" in that pic?

All the purple you see is really there. I just had problems with the lighting, so I increased the contrast so the purples would show up better.

been smoking socal kush for a looong time and have never come across anything called "pure og." we do have a well known cut called (suge) "pure kush" bread by a cat named suge. the bud structure looks alot like that nug in the pic w red background. it vegs slow, grows stout and has a sweet smell.

maybe the "pure og" is a cross of some this and a male og?

im almost positive thats a durban kush cross...looks almost identical to some of the stuff ive seen. i say durban because it has the drab darker greenish color to it which reminds me of something called GirlScoutCookie which is Durban x OG x??? cant remember. its a san francisco cut i havent seen it in santa cruz.

real OG kush usually has orangey reddish hairs...with light lime green nug color. my cut is really stretchy with lots of internode spacing. you gotta top and prune the shit out of it or it just grows into this loopy vine.


but yeah gotta watch out for the name game...i see everyone calling everything kush nowadays alot of ignorant folks out there trying to trick people....plus OG = kush. OG basically means its the pre 98 version of the pure kush. if hes calling it Pure OG its kind of like a name reversal which is weird...

Didn't want anyone tracking him down I guess. Oh well, I'll just enjoy it for what it is.

I'll try and get a better pic of it up and a more accurate smoke report.

He finally got back to me. Here's what the guys says about it.

"i brought these genetics from the hindu kush mountains in pakistan in 1992. i have been seeding and breeding it exclusivly for 18 yrs. i named this PURE KUSH 18 yrs ago. if you see another PURE KUSH it is not this strain. i only provide clones never seeds of this strain."
