I would really appreciate some expert input here. I have been minding a neighbour's home for a few months, so decided to grow a few outdoor plants. The plants are fine, budding about ten days. However, my neighbour is coming back early, so I need to move the plants pronto cos they had major drug problems with a family member and will flip if they see cannabis growing in their garden. Some bamboo roots have entangled with my plants so I don't think I can dig them out.
My question is : can I cut the plants at the base and keep them in water and plant food for the two weeks it will take for the buds to mature? Can I cut branches off and put them in water and plant food until the buds mature? (obviously keeping them under lights for 12 hours per day) Or would this just destroy bud production?
It would break my heart to abandon or discard the plants at this stage, but if I cant dig them out what are my options?

if there only 10 days into budding, I don't think that that would survive long enough to finish even if you did properly replant them. If there's no security risk in trying it though you have nothing to loose.

Make sure to water them really well after the transplant, I'd try to give them some B1 or Superthrive in the water if possible. Cutting branches or the plant at the base and putting it in water you stand no chance for them to survive. Another thing, If they've only been flowering for 10 days they are not going to be done in 2 more weeks, that would only be 24 days of flowering or 4 weeks.

I think your only chance at salvaging anything would be to dig up as much as possible. you are going to need some kinda root ball to keep that flowering plant alive. I would think about trying to transplant as much as possible. If you end up having to leave a bunch of the root behind then chop the top back as well. Because a fraction of the original root mass will only support a fraction of the plant mass. Also make sure to keep it somewhat warm and humid. treat it like you would a clone. If you can't take any roots I think your kinda screwed. IMO you would be better off starting from seed or clone in your new location.
