only use it on healthy plants not babys ,if it hydro mix it in water first dilute it and heat it ,so it will not stick to the roots ,try it one week befor you flip it tto 12 / 12 and run it till the end ,i have good success with it ,i dont even need to flush ,but i dont load the nutes up trying to max out the weight ,i shoot for quality

I am a soil only grower both inside and out.I use a weak solution of molasses,H2O2,and Peters 20-20-20 during vegging, with an occasional cup of leftover plain iced tea. Then when I flower, inside or outside,I use about 3/4 of a cup of Blackstrap to a gallon of water along with a tablespoon of Peters Super Blosoom Booster and use that.I see my girls put on girth more using mollasses than anything else. Its now time to get heavy on the carbos as my girls are flowering up nicely and puttin on the frost.Peace and Good Luck-BigD

Soil grower here with very little experience so take as you will. I use Blackstrap Mollasses pretty much every watering during veg through flower (no seedlings), until the final two weeks. So h20/mol alternating with nutes/mol, thats my 2 cents bro good luck! :good:

I bought a bottle of superthrive, havn't used it yet although..I did some searching on IC and it seems the use of superthive is a debatable topic. I would not use it on seedlings imho, keep'em happy and moist starting out with H2O only. My first run I tried feeding per a chart that said it was okay for seedlings...even using a very light dose it was not okay!! lol Learning curve is steep at times, but keeping it simple and letting your ladies show you when in need is the best general advice I have recieved from this wonderful community...

This was something I've wanted clarification on. I've used molasses in organic gardening outdoors, but I've been leery about mixing it into my dwc buckets. Can this be done safely?

The other question I'd like to see discussed is what type of molasses. I know its supposed to be blackstrap unsulfurized molasses, but there are dozen of different types with differing amounts of sodium in it. As I recall any type of sodium = bad.

The question is not when can you use molasses, its when molasses application would help.
I only use molasses in flowering. I try to use it around 3 weeks into flowering and then once every 3 weeks. Which means not many uses of molasses.

Molasses have a lot of carbons which feed the bacteria in the soil. It also have some potassium and phosphorous along which some trace elements (calcium?).

I find it ESSENTIAL only during flowering.

Haven't used superthrive, can't help you with that.

For seedlings I try to use peat or coco without any nutes in it. The seedling don't need anything in the first week.
Then I plant (if I am using soil) in lightly fertilized (with compost mainly). Didn't NEED anything else.
I could have used a lot of stuff which might, maybe, possibly give my plant another inch of growth per week and leave me with much lighter wallet.

I'm running my 6th grow right now, and the more I grow the more I realize - LESS IS MORE.

My next batch that goes into flowering will contain premixed soil (would have used peat or coco alone if was available), various composts, high P guano and what perlite I have left. Might add some activated charcoal I have lying around, mostly because I got nothing else to do with it.
If I had the option I would have added lime.
But I don't intend to add anything to this mix except water, the occasional AACT, which contains the molasses \ sugar.

So far my plant are very happy - check my log.
If it was still around you could have checked my first grow log - ran with 200 bucks of BioBizz fertilizers, meters, expensive soil mix and pretty much everything the hydro shop had to offer. Was far off my current grow which cost me a friction.

Hard to apprehend that you could get great results doing much less.

use molasses at one teaspoon per gallon - not 1 tablespoon which is too much and will gum up your soil eventually. i only use it mid-late flower.
