Canada Online Grow Shops ?

Can anyone recommend online canadian grow/hydro stores ?

I'd prefer products not cross the border, but might consider the US if service/prices were exceptionally better.

I'm currently looking for Can Filters/odor control. Specifically the models 33 and 9000.

http://www.progressive-growth.com/ has a decent website and the 33 is about $200.

http://www.betterthannature.com/ seems decent also but advertise the 33 for a mere $130, quite a difference and matching the price area of cheap online grow shops in the US.


Any feedback on the above or any online shops here ? I'm close to Ottawa on Quebec side so local places might be preferable to those in BC.

I've looked at those vendors websites but see very little in terms of product and pricing.

Perhaps I could call or email to get pricing on the Can filters I want, but I always prefer to deal with vendors who have good selections available via on-line shopping. One of those has a 2009 PDF catalog without prices.

Have you had good experiences and pricing with any of those vendors ?

I've ordered from these guys a few times, very fast delivery and they're always happy to answer any questions you got. Not too bad on prices. They got specials and bundles sometimes, and they'll work with ya if you order a certain amount.

They have a decent website. Their Can Filter 33 is $210 though, which is roughly in line with other Canadian sites, but a good deal more than the $130 at BetterThanNature.

Since it's so far off the $200 or so at other Canuck sites, I will check if that's an error. That said, $130 or so is a good price from a discount US site like cheaphydroponics. The site you posted has some lower prices for the bigger filters, so there's no consistency to best prices. Shipping costs are another issue for me to check too.

Website seems decent; there is a decent selection of quality products listed there. Such as Lumatek ballasts and CanFilters.

I haven't yet found however any "perfect" online vendors in Canada. By "perfect" I mean similar to my favored local and non-local computer and electronics vendors. They have great prices and service, and websites that list a large number of products, so I don't have to waste time calling or emailing all the time.

My favorite site/vendor so far is http://cheaphydroponics.com/store/index.php but it's US based. They have the 600 watt Lumatek ballast for US $179. Compare to Bustan at $245 or Amazonia at $240. Perhaps I should just go with some of the better US vendors. I'm not commercial, so I'm not too paranoid.

I've never used EBay yet, but I'm starting to become more comfortable with that idea. Currently looking for an Arizer Extreme Q vaporizer and the best prices are on Ebay.Com or Ebay.Ca .


BTW, I did order and receive the CanFilter 33 from BetterThanNature. Except for a shipping delay I was satisfied. For whatever reason (website error or excess stock?) their 33 filter price was abnormally low for Canada and even for the rest of their CanFilter models.

Thanks LAboutz. I see an option to set language but Francais is the only available selection, LOL. I muddled through.

Their prices seem about on par with Bustan and they carry quality products like Lumatek and CanFilter. But they only show 2 Lumatek ballasts and 1 CanFilter 2600 and fan combo.


Still haven't found my ideal Canadian vendor(s). I guess I'll go to the US unless someone can recommend a Canadian vendor with great prices and selection (on website) and service.

I think the Americans may be "kicking our butts" as far as wonderful online grow shop vendors. Perhaps most customers are commercial and/or are paranoid enough to never order online, particularly over the border.


And yes I know I'm a pretty picky "tough customer" who wants everything in a vendor. Might take me a while, but sooner or later I'll find one or two and stick with them.
