24 Hrs Dark in Flower?

Hi all

So i've flipped my grow into flowering a couple of days ago and have lights on at night. Now i'm thinking i'd prefer to have them on in the daytime to warm up the room a bit.

Should I have them in darkness for 24hrs to make the switch? And will this stress them so early in flowering? They're Sweet Tooths, so have that Blueberry hermie threat.

Gotta love Thai for doin' that shit right, I've only seen it done successfully 1 time...it just takes a while...move the timer 15 minutes per day until you're where you want to be, make sure you steal light time, not dark, DON'T STEAL SLEEP FROM THEM. Lets say you bloom and your light(s) come on at midnight and kick off at noon on day 7. On the next day set your timer on to come on at 12:15 am and kick off at 12:15 pm, still getting 12:12 but the only had an extra 15 minutes sleep, then next day 12:30 am to 12:30pm....this is the only method I've seen that didn't screw shit up. I've seen people do it in 2 hours chunks, and then the plants hermie. 15 minutes per day is the only safe bet I know...but I'm excited to read other ppls post on this.

had a power outage a week back, six hours in the the light cycle...I went into the room unplugged all the lights and let them sit until they were to come on the next evening no issues...

you'll be fine bro...just do the flop with 24hrs of darkness...

Thanks all - giving them 24 hours darkness now. Will report back if it looks like they've been stressed too much.

Blueberry is derived from Thai, Oaxaca Mexican, and Afghan. Ok, you may get those lil' nanners that dont open, but Thai is prone, No, No, it is built into that landrace. It's has been a reliable means of propagation there for centuries upon centuries. Not arguing or saying anyone is wrong, I'm saying 100% no chance of flipping. A 6 hour dark spot may not effect things, but you may also get a nice crop of buds with fem'd, junk ass seeds in.

"Hey, we got the hermie thing down, now let's work on making these great genetics auto-flower." HHHHHMmm...we'll call it "Sweet Blueberry Hemp",----- 2.4% THC....yay!

Special Ed, "yay!", Sorry, I don't believe in shocking my sacred herb, it's a disservice, they are delicate flowers and should be treated as such. Why risk bad results?? It's worth more to me than that.

Wouldn't you freak out if you woke up, and the sun didn't come out at all that day?
Wouldn't you be nervous as fuck all day?
Do you think you'd be nervous about going to sleep later?, considering the last time you closed your eyes, you never saw daylight again. What's going to happen this night??

I'd say switching the light slowly would be more likely to cause a hermie rather than giving them 24 hours of darkness. Don't be surprised if you don't see any signs of stress.

An old 'online friend' (who i have never met) has done his fair share of growing, he always kicks his girls into flowering by giving them 24 hours darkness before the 12:12 cycle.

It's very early in flowering so switching them to your desired photoperiod should be done ASAP. Doing it slowly is probably counterproductive.

yeah, there's never a variable in nature.
The amount of daylight ever never increases or decreases, yep, same amount everyday, all year long...every day, the sun rises and sets, everyday, the same time.

Did you pick up on the sarcasm? Hope so...

I have always given them 24hrs of night before fliping them to flower.
if you leave them in the dark, for an excessive amount of time, they may stretch more than normal. I have a lady, she was 3 weeks into flower, was stuck in a dark room and left there for 3 days.
Shes now in the fifth week and still no signs of herm
change they're night time by giving them more night.

Because it was so early in flowering flipping lighting times wouldn't normally do too much damage. But Blueberry is a tricky beast and previous grows with DJs genetics have reacted badly to any forms of stress. Hence my concerns.

Mine have stalled a bit since I did the switch. I'm sure they'll take off again soon, but I would say they didn't like it. We'll see if there's any long term damage in the next few weeks.

oh, REALLY!!!! HMMM....I DIDN'T RECOMMEND A BETTER METHOD OR ANYTHING. NO, WAIT. I JUST SCROLLED UP, AND YEAH, I TOOK THE THAI INTO CONSIDERATION. EVERYONE CALLED BULLSHIT ON ME.

I don't have 5,000 post like some people, I'm usually in my room or another, my anti social disorder causes me to read almost every word on cannabis I can find, good luck finding a book or magazine I don't have, and since I speak English, German and Spanish, I even had subscriptions to foreign magazines...I can recite my 128 cultivars and their lineage, and their parents lineage. I tried to help. Btw, the bananas you pull off are edible, but not the same as Cavendish Bananas, make sure the cystolith hairs don't upset your tummy, its a biological trick cannabis uses to discourage something from eating the blooming flowers and fresh shoots. Did I mention Thai was unstable? Yeah, that's up there too.

I've never attempted switching that around like OP wants to do

too much pissing around I guess. lol :watchplant:

Actually I have moved things around 1 hr at a time before. Just once. Last time around I remember moving from 7am - 7pm to 8am - 8pm with no problems.

Today I had to turn my light off for an hour while getting somethin' fixed up in the basement. Just switched the light off and on, leaving the timer alone so it's business as usual.
