Is this really how people trim? Really?

There is nothing wrong with leaving a bit of sugar leave material on it....... To each their own.

i flip my plants up side down. let the fan leaves hang down, easy to cut. and try to cut as Persis as possible. Then when dryer, i try to trim it a little more. but i got it down where i dont have to unless its a really leafy strain.

by the way to those of u that don't know that fucking Remo... homies chopped more weed than 99% of you I'd bet ;) ... shit changes when your choppin half the days of the week every week lol.. its get it out the door in as presentable fashion as possible as quickly as possible...

I trim anything that protrudes from the calyx/pistil/bud region (leaf, part of a leaf, etc.) Anything with a lot of trichs is kept on, and unlike the man in the video I hold the bud by the stem only.

I always trim right after chopping down. Some people do it after drying but the leaves become hard and stick closer to the buds making things annoying.

I agree. if you check out his other videos, he is clearly a club grower and grows quantities to sell. It's all about having the product when the people walk through the door. It's profit for him and I'm sure he doesn't care what other people think, he's making money.

But i'm like most of you, it's head stash so I want it halfway decent at least.

personally, I try to get as much as I can. Even the small sugar leaves, great for hash!

I mostly trim the other way, perpendicular. Sugar leaves near the top really only get ends clipped.

Tell me what I'm doing wrong, just the way that seemed natural from the start.

I use the fiskars micro. If they break you email a photo to fiskars and they mail you a new pair. I bought 3 pair a few years ago and have had 2 replaced.

In any event, I've always trimmed each leaf off at the stem, spreading and digging into the bud if need be. Only the small single blade leaves on the top of the bud get snipped. .

I trim this way too.

If I can "peel" the bud back to reach the stem I will snip at the stem.

But if I have to go "digging" into the bud with the scissors then I just trim off the tips.

Okay, now I've been growing for many years, but have never helped anyone else trim. In fact, until the last year I've never even met another grower.

In any event, I've always trimmed each leaf off at the stem, spreading and digging into the bud if need be. Only the small single blade leaves on the top of the bud get snipped. A few of my trimmers have tried to get away with trimming like the guy in this video but I've always showed them the "right way" to do it.

Am I an anal retentive prick? Maybe this is why trimming takes so long compared to what I've read on this site. If I did it like him I probably wouldn't even need help. I'm only harvesting 1.5-2lbs at a time.

To me, it just looks so much better completely nude of leaves.
If I spend my sweet ass time growing and then take my sweet ass time harvesting and someone treats my end product like that.. I would punch them in the face! Keep doing it the way you do it and take your time. Then again I never harvest lb's so maybe it's just tedious and hard on the hands but only cut down what you can trim. Don't cit down all the plants and lay them on newspaper to then let them get flat on one side till their trimming turn comes about.

PS: I love the Urban Grower. Dudes a funny mofo and I'm sure he's cool.

Wow I hate how he man handled his bud..

And I dont dig into my bud to get the stem of a fan leaf, I just attempt to get any part of the stem. If I cant, I can't.

I was going to say... He was palming the bud a bit roughly for my taste. I'm in the "speed kills" group, I take my time trimming and handle the bud by the stem as much as possible.

Uhhh it really depends on how much you have to trim as well. Some of you guys (me included are not trimming 20 pounds at a time) and if you have that much you need to get it done. Leaving a bit of leaf on the bud wont effect anything if you have some decent plants. I don't know where the fuck this new age of trimming every little piece of leaf of the buds came from, but personally I dont have the fucking time to get all anal retentive on the 6-10 oz's I pull down. Now imagine if I had 10 pounds to trim, that would take a fucking month.\

This video is the way to trim massive quantities, nothing wrong with what he is doing.

Gotta agree with kushbanana here. Sure, if all you have is a zip to trim at a time, by all means, polish it like a gem if that's what makes you happy.

If you're trying to get an elbow out the fucking door and get on with your life, things change.

This is true for a lot of advice on this site. The guy that micro-manages every little detail of his closet grow doesn't have a fucking clue that you can't scale that shit up to bigger grows.

oh... this is an old thread lol. i use smaller scissors, like those ones surgeons use, or any small pointed sharp scissors with good movement. then i clip off all the large fan leaves at the base while holding the bud upside down as it's easier. then i clip off all the secondary leaves at the point where the petiole (leaf stem) meets the buds, after that i clip the ends of everything that is sticking out. if it still looks too leafy i may go in and detail. but like krunch said that shit usually falls off after it dries anyway.

something like this typically.

just say that comment about micro growing. i grow micro, we(i) try to manage as little as possible, im sure i could scale my operation up no problem. is simplicity not what we are all after? if i had LB's to trim i prolly would just go over the ends with scissors too, if it's got crystals it smokes, and you won't have headaches or whatever objections people have to leaf in buds if you flush...or rather let your plants ripen before harvest. plants are not supposed to be super green at the end of life unless that plant was specifically grown for the leaves. like spinach or lettuce. most fruiting plants as marijuana is use up all their nutrients developing the fruit by harvest.

The guys a prick, handling the weed like that, the girl at least holds it by the stem and shows some respect, he just throws it about ...... good job it's unripe or he might have damaged some decent bud

If he did that in one of the Vietnamese grow houses this country is full of, he'd end up in a ditch with his throat cut or pig food
