What's new

do you have to flush if going to water cure and vaporize only?

How many days flush before chop, if I plan to water cure, and will only use a vaporizer?

I leached and flushed in soil, but am new to coco

I've started leaching the pots with lots of water (garden hose for five minutes a couple of times, just today)

- advice i was given for coco was ten days flush, seven at the least, but I'm wondering if water curing and vaping mitigates the need for such a long period (two flowered early and i've been in denial about how far along they really are, most of the buds need to be harvested i think, the hairs are almost black and the trichs are mostly cloudy with some patches of amber on the sugar leaf)

I know that flushing isn't just about getting salts out of the media, it's about letting the plants feed on themselves to get rid of extra weight, chlorophyl, nutes etc. and that that takes the plant time. (my tap water pH is 8 - hey, maybe i can nute lock them with the garden hose, hehe, speed it up)

Thank you,

I've water cured in the past, the weed is far too generic when you do this. Many people compare it to a extra light cigarette. I'm not sure if you've water cured in the past but your weed will lose all it's merits in taste and aroma.

The best merit of the water cure is very smooth smoke, so I wouldn't date not flush my weed. Once you harvest nothing IMO will fix unflushed weed.

I know many vaporizers are different but my experience with vaporizers is that if the weed is harsh when smoked it will still be harsh or at the very least not as pleasant as it could be when vaporized.

thank you!

I really should be some kind of poster child for what not to do as a new grower... i failed to:
1. keep track of when they went into flower
2. take snapshots along the way (stupid, I expecting them to stall from ambient light instead of doing something about it)
3. failed to provide adequate ventilation in the small greenhouse outside, which encouraged powdery mildew on everything, hence the need to do the water wash,
4. didn't flush long enough (two days only)
5. - well, maybe this was bad, maybe not, i washed my trimmed buds with Dawn dishwashing detergent (few drops in a bucket of water)...to rinse out the powdery mildew, it does not appear to have damaged anything, just like washing broccoli (I hope - lol)

I harvested the two plants, but left the top on one since it's showing new growth

i'll post back results of how it vapes without the flush

My understanding, and recent new experience, is that water curing allows you to use nutes until the end, with no flush required.

I broke some branches and unexpectedly harvested a bit early a few days after fertilizing. The air dried samples tasted awful. But the water cured was wonderfully fine, after 3-4 days in the water. And it still had some flavor after 3-4 days. 7 days made it almost tasteless (which I now like.) Water "curing" and redrying the air dried weed fixed it.

Now this just addresses taste and safety of the weed. If your plant or medium will live on, you may still want to flush to get rid of toxic salts. But that can be done after harvesting with a 7 day water cure.
