im growing a few shiva skunk (northern lights x skunk #1)?
i got them from clone at sr71/blue sky. they had 3 different phenos available marked A. B. C. pheno A was said to be the best yielding, Pheno B. the best tasting and C. being a mix of both. I chose A.

any have some info on this strain? curious as to what you all think of it.

You'll like the shiva, from all I know that have had it, they loved it. Like to get some myself.... it's as close as you can get to M39....

Shiva Skunk...

Shiva Skunk...

I had 2 phenos from seed. One was a classic skunk #1 and the other was a grape smelling/tasting plant. The skunk tasted kinda bland with an ok buzz. But the grape pheno was awsome, both taste and buzz. Very hardy strain too, clones easy, not finicky about nutes at all and yeilds very well. Seems ta be purdy solid ta breed with too. I think it's a sleeper strain that gets over looked a lot. That's my opinion anyway. Good luck with it! Take care... BC

londinium- that shiva looks beautiful.

b.c.- i am going to make sure to take note of the smell since i just threw em into 12/12.. pheno A (the one i got) is the better yielder out the 3, im hoping it will still have some nice tasty hues as well.

Late 80's ShivaSkunk\/

this looks identical to the shiva skunk cut I run...I'm not a huge skunk fan for my personal smoke jar but for its purpose, it is fantastic...cuttings are really quick & easy to root, my pheno is chop-worthy at 50-55 days (I usually take it at 60-65), and the yield is nothing to laugh at. 5 gal in soil will easily fetch qp/plant with a decent veg, bust out the tables and you're looking at 5-6 without breaking a sweat

I would agree that this is (nowadays) an overlooked strain because there are "bigger" and "better," but those in the know have always been fans of the NL5xSK1 in its various forms :tiphat:

When MR.Soul Created the Apollo 11 it was a cross between cinderella(Called "Princess" back then) and shiva skunk. He gave me some of those beans. I liked the princess-50(apollo11) and the princess-75 (p-50 backcrossed to the cinderella clone)that he released before the cinderella88 and cinderella99. They had more Shiva Skunk in them. The stems were a lot stronger and the p-50 had a great sour apple taste that got lost in the later crosses. The later cindy's were more of an Orange/pineapple taste.

Huh? I think you have that mixed up. A11 is 'Genius' x Cindy (I can't remember if it was '99 or the generation before that). Genius, Princess and Cafe Girl were all the results of of seed grown by Mr. Soul from a bag of Jack Herer in the dam. I think he may have used Shiva Skunk as the original male in the cross of Princess that was later backcrossed to the original Princess 3x to get Cinderella '99 and 'cubed' version of the original Princess.

..and for the original question here is Sensi Seeds (the original Shiva Skunk breeder as far as I know) strain description...

The Lord of Bhang is one of many titles given to the Hindu deity Shiva, and it’s said that he discovered the amazing properties of cannabis while meditating amidst a stand of ganja plants. Of all the gods, Shiva is most frequently seen to enjoy cannabis in all its forms and many of his devotees imbibe hashish as a sacrament. As the most powerful of the Skunk family and thus among the most potent Indica-dominant strains ever made available, Shiva Skunk is named in honour of the Lord of the Dance.

Shiva Skunk was an instant hit when released as NL#5xSK#1 in 1987. That simple string of letters and numbers instantly grabbed the attention of any grower who recognised the two famous parents. A new strain combining distinct and stable genotypes is always a noteworthy event, and that working-title indicated a great deal more. NL#5xSK#1 offered growers a taste of ‘cannabis cubed’ - a super-hybrid embodying the two most powerful cannabis strains known at the time. Before being formally named, Shiva Skunk was already building a reputation as the next step in marihuana breeding.

Both parents influence the prolific bud structure and knock-down potency of this strain. Later in flowering Shiva Skunk’s buds bulk up sharply and become encrusted with a trademark layer of oversized trichomes, courtesy of the one and only Northern Lights#5. Remarkable hybrid vigour allows Shiva Skunk to out-perform even its distinguished parents for yield and resin content.

Bouquet is musky and dank with sweet-citrus undertones; smoke is thick and resinous, described as ‘creamy’ by fans, sometimes ‘oily’ or ‘heavy’ by novices. Shiva Skunk’s extra strong body-mind effects range from red-eyed and giggly to adventurous to deeply contemplative. This is not a smoke to be taken lightly. Remember that Lord Shiva’s primary title is The Destroyer!

hi, i would like to know if you guys have had any experience with your plants completely bushing out, COMPLETELY covering themselves in layer upon layer of fan leaves, leaving the bud sites small, and producing nothing but popcorn buds, failing to make itself into a big giant cola???

i have shanti devi doing this to me. i topped them and they all have about six to eight large lateral branches that turned into big 'cola' looking things. i had really high hopes. they are in soil, i have been feeding them just GH micro and bloom, hydro food. was that my mistake or what? i switched about two weeks ago to alaska morbloom. no diff. after about 6 weeks i got despirate and stripped ALL the fans. there was almost nothing left. the bud sites were as big as your pinky fingernail and half of them died.

i dont know what to do other than i have decided to defoliate them in veg as per the Defoliation thread. i am sure that without all those fucking leaves than the buds will get bigger. i had one plant that kicked ass without stripped, but strangely enuf, it was so stick-like compared to my others that i only put it into bloom to get rid of it. then it surprised the shit out of me and made big buds. i expect that defoliating is key to this strain.

I'll second that, the grape smelling pheno was the best out of the bunch from the 2 packs I grew years ago. I bet that was their B pheno.

i get shiva skunk on the reg. love the stuff. the pheno my buddy has had for yrs now doesnt taste like anything special but it is crazy potent. wrecks my eyes like no other strain. also has lots of hairs and calyxs are rather small buts super crystally. hairs are also like a tan color not quite orange.

I grew out 1 of my 10 pack of sensi shiva skunk on my last run. It's very pineapple, infact much more so than the single c99 i was running with it at the time.

Can't wait to grow the rest of them.
