Late Bloom Spider Mite Treatment?

Ugh... 6.5 weeks into a gorgeous bloom, SM show up on a couple leaves... pulled the leaves, waited a day, 2 more leaves... chopped the brance in a fit of frustration. I really hate these guys.

At this point I just started my 7th week, about 2 start flush, 9 week strain. The mites came back on 3 leaves in the same spot yesterday, I mixed some water, organic soap, and veggie oil, sprayed carefully on the affected leaves, stalks (where able without wetting buds) went back in today and it looks like they havent progressed any more. I am planning on continuing the careful sprays on leaves in that area (only spot showing them in the grow) every 3 days for the next 2 weeks.

I was wondering, will a CO2 bomb (bucket full of dry ice with room closed up and venti shut off) could be used to kill these fuckers off...

The soap/oil/water is the STRONGEST thing im willing to spray at this point, and im not tryin 2 spray it on my buds - really really hate budrot. I'm grasping for something to knock them down for the next 2 weeks... I could get like 5 LBS of dry ice if need be so... please someone tell me this works!

Thanks,
J

i dont think dry ice will do it. If you can get a tank of co2 and release the hole tank will help but i dont think it will get rid of them. it will be very time consuming but you vacuum those little fuckers up which might keep them at bay with your leaf treatments.

I've seen the high CO2 cause damage to plants while not even denting the mites. Not sure where the rumor got started, but I don't think it's a good one. People are always going on about how their latest recipe for the borg worked, only to find a few weeks later that the mites are still there. The real key to fighting mites is to keep the battle centered on the undersides of large sunleaves, which they prefer over all other locations and will keep trying to repopulate rather than moving to other parts as long as you keep 'em hammered down. Choice of 'poison' is not as important as mechanical application. Your mix of household soap will work well if instead of spraying, you dip. Put the mix in a shallow bowl and hold under each leaf and submerge. Just be sure to hold the rim low enough that you bend the leaf down into the bowl instead of bending the petiol over the rim, which can break it.

Iike using no pest strips, it gasses the lil bastids and won't affect the buds unless you super concentrate the gas.

theres a post by nationwide, mites in late flower and I recomended using No pest strips Ive have always had very excellent results when use properly

deja vu, is this the year of the super mite invasion? seem to see a lot of these threads
just had the same deal, mites in late flowering, found a organic pesticide based around clove/rosemary/peppermint/thyme oils, helped some
but they are the borg, they just don't stop coming

everyone needs to keep in mind if they laid eggs and what ever your using to fight em doesn't kill the eggs they will be back alot sooner than you expected
you may have to retreat again 3-4 days later

If you have a small outbreak of mites I recommend

Did the trick for me with small volume outbreaks in indoor soil and hydro. Release 200 to 300 initially and replace with 100 more each week. If you have full blown spidey wars going on well this is not going to help you. The downside is you have to collect dead bugs every 2 days. You can buy ladybugs at OSH for 7$ a 100 ct.

TESTED AND APPROVED!!

igrowone-No shit man. I haven't had the for roughly 3 years running a perpetual(only used safer's insect spray during veg), and boom, in two weeks time of getting some new soil, full blown borg infestation(not as bad as some I have seen, but still webs everywhere). Well, I picked up some stuff to them out, and it seemed to only piss them off. Reluctantly, I reached out to someone in my area that I know grows. Well he ended up calling his guy he gets all of his cuts from, and next thing I know not only do I have two new drinking buddies and some new genetics on the way, but a solution for for the borg(at least my local branch of them)-Azamax. 2 spray downs and some added to the rez 3 days before change out, and I have only seen about 5 total in my whole setup, and I have 1 more spray down to go. Personally I have found that if you don't spray it at least a week before harvesting, there are no weird effects, but less than that I noticed my lips started to go a little numb near the end of the joint(still pretty sure it was just the strain(kicks out a lot of resin), but I need to start taking better notes to be sure).

i brought them in from an outside reveg, not a great plan in retrospect
i was afraid to use anything that has pesticide, including organic pesticide, late in flower
i know many feel comfortable with neem oil late in flower, but i'm a bit wary of even organic pesticide if i can avoid it

Well... looked into it, and it looks like the CO2 has been thoroughly mythbusted. Also followed a link posted to a site with infos that said it requires more than 3% (30,000 ppm) to really have noticable ill effects on people. So though it may be pretty safe for ppl (the site i checked had a virus activex script on it so i gotta recheck the data to be sure) It apparent isnt very useful against the borg and would likely murder my plants.

Hmmm, back to the HS NPS - lotsa ppl have suggested this, really considering them maybe just for the next 5 days, then let em finish for 1week+ without the strips in there... lotsa split opinions ono them tho, dont wanna make my medicine poison.
