I'm thinking about purchasing this fan to be used as an exhaust for my small stealth grow box. I plan on setting this fan on the ground and sticking a duct vent on this fan that will connect to a hole I will cut out at the very top of my grow box .

Can i simply use a spare power cord from my computer and strip it? (it says 125V and 10A)

specifications on fan
amps - .31
rated volts - 120
max watts - 37.0

And does anyone know which one is more quiet

Soler and Palau TD-100 or the whisper inline 120 cmf (pictured above)

Thank you!

You can strip the power cord, I've done it many times.

As for which one is more quiet, I'm not absolutely sure, but the S&P fan is far and away the better fan.

I have and love my S&P TDX100 but, it simply does NOT suck like a Vortex. For S&P go at least one model up from your needs.

Keep the fan and anything electrical OFF the floor and above your waterlines. The less ducting and fewer bends the better.

Thank you so much for the help!

I've decided that both fans are actually too loud. I'm planning on purchasing this fan (.3 sones) but I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out how to use it. This thing is big and there is no way I can fit in my box. Any suggestions? Is there a rectangular duct that narrows to a 4" circular duct somewhere?

And just to make sure, the grill is where it sucks in air right?
