Ever have a ghost encounter or feel their presence?

The first episode of MTV's fear...

Moundsville State/West Virginia Penitentiary...

It's extremely tough and expensive to book a Ghost Hunt there, to the tune of $600...but you can bring up to 20 people. A friend of mine has a friend who got a group together and it's ending up only costing us $40 a person, so I told him I'm down. It's in the coming days and I'm excited to go...bringing my digi, a non-contact thermometer along with (hopefully) a digital voice recorder for EVP's.

There are many documentaries on this place, as 990+ men have been killed in that prison...Ghost Adventures from the travel channel did a thing there, a few other amateur ghost hunters have been there and obviously MTV's Fear first episode was filmed there.

I think (as someone with no experience in ghost hunting, encountering a spirit or detecting a presence) that it's only logical to be skeptical, and a lot of times the fear you bring into the place is what truly scares you...

Check out the Ghost Adventures episode on it though...there are some pretty freaky things that, if true, would scare me shitless. It starts at midnight and goes to 6am, so we'll be in a pitch black prison for hours, by ourselves. The group is going to split up, and me, my good friend and his cousin are going off alone.

The kicker? We're going to hotbox the truck beforehand, after the 1hr tour, walk across the prison yard and smoke 1 or 2 blunts there, then go investigate :)

Anyone ever see a ghost, apparition, or have a really freaky experience that made you question their existence?

Yes, yes, and yes.

I have seen a ghost before and it was as recent as this summer (I had 2 things happen this summer that freaked me out). I was sitting here on the computer at about midnight when I saw what appeared to be a tall blue figure of womanly proportions standing in the hallway. At first, before I noticed her, I got the sense that someone was there and that totally unnerved me..then when I looked I saw her standing there, all blue aura, pointing at the pictures on the wall..it was pretty freaky.

Then, after playing with a Ouija board one night this June, I was visited by a ghost...same ghost? I dunno...but I was laying on my back and about to fall asleep when I felt somone trying to kiss me, but they were also suffocating me at the same time..I instinctively told the entity to leave in the name of Jesus Christ and it said "Okay" and I could immediately breathe again. It was very hard to say that to the ghost as I was gasping for air and could barely make out the sentence to tell it to leave me alone. Also very freaky!

I was at home feeling bad that I didn't attend my favorite Aunt's funeral. I didn't go because of a bad beef with my cousin her son (Long Story), So the rest of my family went. I was at home, washing dishes looking out my kitchen window. When suddenly I saw a young blonde girls in a blindingly white robe. She was so lovely, she was shiney and radiating light and energy. She slowing walked past the kitchen window. The strange thing was, it was as if she was floating. She apperar to be walikng about 2 inches above the ground. I was stunned. She appeared to be walking in super slow motion.
I remember thinking, who is this little girl, why is she in my back yard? Why is everything in slow mo?
Once she got out of eye range, I ran to the backyard. I ran all around my house.
There was no one.
Was she a figment of my grief filled, sorrow fill, guilt filled mind?
Or was it something else...?

I came home fucked up at 2 am one night and didnt want to wake my folks up so I slept in tha driveway in my car, since it waz cold out I had to keep starting tha car to turn tha heat on and tha car I had was rather loud however my folks stayed on the back side of the house so they couldnt hear it, heres tha kicker my folks got some land on an indian burial ground. Tha following night i got home from work tired like no other and went straight to bed' around 2:30 am i wake up to my bed shaking vigorously' i quickly got on my knees and looked over tha edge of tha bed and didnt see anthing (my first thought was one of my parents was shaking tha bed but there waz no one in tha room) immediatly i layed down pulled tha covers over my head and was speechless. I was too scared to yell or I just couldnt speak, to this day I dunno but one thing I do know is I believe it was payback for the previous night.

I will say that while being extremely stoned I have seen things but I attribute that to my mind being under the influence...

I, sober, have never seen an apparition or experienced anything of the paranormal...

Something odd happened once though...it was tradition for my immediate family to meet at my grandmother's house for Christmas eve dinner, opening of gifts, etc. One year my grandmother's husband passed away, she was distraught being it was the first Christmas without him, and she was extremely upset but still tried to make it a good Christmas eve for everyone.

We were sitting in the same room, in the same places as we did every year, and my grandmother's husband had a rocking chair he would sit in every year while everyone opened presents.

My mother happened to say "It's much different without John being here..." and my grandmother began to cry a bit, and at the exact moment, the rocking chair began to rock back and forth.

I don't know how to explain it, most people there just said it was weird and thought it was the wind or something...but there was never a draft in that room, it was the hottest stuffiest room in her house...who knows.

I always get the chills when I tell about this experience. I once lived in an apartment that had been converted from an old "carriage house" that doubled as the servant's quarters in the 19th century. There were strange noises I could not explain in that apartment. One time I woke up with a start and turned to look in the doorway and saw a dark figure looming. I blinked and it was gone.

Later, after I had moved out the tenant after me related an experience that really made my hair stand on end. He was sleeping in the same room I had been in and woke up to see a little black girl with pigtails staring right at him next to his bed. Then she just...faded away...

i live in a spot where a lot of native americans were murdered and its also a very old farm and by the river which was the natives highway and all the time i feel the presence of something over my shoulder and i know its something paranormel its not threatning but its there

When I was in like 4th grade my mother and I where sitting in the family room watching tv we both heard a house rattling bang. We both left the room and after looking around we decided to take a nap. Not sure if I was asleep or what but I remember seeing what looked like angel, I wasn't scared but actually felt very safe. Later the same day I was in the family room again watching TV and the bang happened again then the ceiling came crashing down. I made it out milliseconds before it hit the ground.. I do believe it was some kind of warning or something.. Later we found out the wrong kind of nails where used to put the ceiling up....

my ghost story- back in like 3rd grade me and my friends were on that whole bloody mary shit. we would go into the school bathrooms, yell bloody mary 3 times and run away. one time i did it in my moms bedroom in front of her mirror. i said bloody mary three times, nothing happened, and i sprinted out of there. later that night when i was sleeping...i suddenly wake up, and on the wall over my bed theres a freakin white glowing womanly figure shape just hovering on the ceiling. it could either be a ghost, or my imagination turning light reflections into a ghost. still dont really know what it was...i was scared at the time though...seriously thought it was bloody mary.

They surround me... I live next to a grave yard... Some are fucking scary! Most are peaceful. I have had the chills since I clicked on the thread... I see dark shadows outside and figures looming in the darkness all the time. Every time I think about this one murder that happened in this town I get chills, yep she buried right over there... I feel them watching me. Had to call in the name of God running up the stairs a couple of times... I don't know if it scared them, however for a split second I felt safe.... Peace and puffs, sleep well :blowbubbles:

To the question, no.

Silly stuff IMHO.

I turn to Paul Mooney in regards to the existence of ghosts and the like... "there are no ghosts, because if there were, slaves would come back and haunt the shit out of white people."

The house PTB and I live in is well over a hundred years old. We've had strange things happen here...seen and heard unexplainable things. We live in a small town that had a substantial disaster happen in the early 1900's....very old. Nothing has ever felt threatening here, but every now and then I feel a gut wrenching hesitation to walk into the older part of the house. It's not fear, just the hesitation of feeling that something is there. Had an instance months ago where I was looking into a closet and in a blink I had a feeling that I did not want to turn around right away. That dread again... whatever it is seems to want you to know it's here, but not to mess with you. Both of us have felt it repeatedly....as well as a friend of ours. I wish more people could vouch for it, but we don't disclose our location, even to most friends.

Have we seen an aparition here? No. But we've heard it....a man.

When I was in 2nd grade my sister and I shared a room in an apartment, sometimes I would have trouble sleeping and would be looking at the open door next to a open closet and I would see the figure of an old man come out of the shadow and float towards my bed. I would pull the covers over my head and go to sleep. after a few times I started to get brave and would let it get closer before I pulled the covers up. Then one night it started to look like my sister floating towards me but I looked over and my sister was asleep in her bed, it was trying to trick me.

When I was 15 my friend and I rode my motorcycle out to an old graveyard near the sutter buttes late at night, the place was nicknamed the witches graveyard, we were smoking a bowl and checking out the graves when we heard a creak, looked over and the door to a port a toilet was closing by itself, there was no wind and no houses for at least a mile, very spooky.

There is a house in Marysville CA that I've been in numerous times, it's in a haunted house book even, I never saw anything when I was there but most everyone that lived there had a story.

Man, I used to scare the shit out of myself reading about UFO's and ghosts and shit. Those were my boogie monsters. I used to read everything I could get my hands on and I sincerely believed I had seen ghosts in our house. My mom even confirmed our house was haunted.

But I'm exaggerated, and so is my mom. We freak ourselves out with over-active imaginations.

Sometimes when I'm stoned I see things in the room moving in the corner of my eye. It scares me momentarily but then I realized that I'm stoned and freaking myself out. There aren't any real, documented, scientific instances of ghosts because they don't exist and can't be measured. Why would a ghost, who supposedly is an intangible soul, make itself visible and tangible? It makes no sense.

But I do believe in God almighty the single father who sent his son (who is also kinda himself) to earth through some chick to walk around and eventually be killed because he was a big hippie which is okay because he died for our sins for some reason and now we can chill with God.

What?

To the OP: go for it, have fun, blaze well, trip out, whatever. But don't expect to see anything, unless perhaps your mind wants you to see something.

In dark our eyes see little detail and subtle lighting and shadow effects can create various optical illusions. An active imagination will look for patterns (faces, etc.) and might eventually see some.

Mental illusions happen every day to all of us, without our noticing in many cases. Humans regularly dream, and those dreams seem to be more bizarre than even strong doses of hallucinogens.

Speaking of, I've probably done well more than my "share" of LSD and shrooms in my life, but I've never actually hallucinated anything on those. Accidentally took some jimson weed once and YES, I hallucinated trees turning into pixies and ants on my socks.

IMO ghosts are nothing more than hallucinations or hoaxes. The same goes for religious "miracles", with all due respect to those with different beliefs.

I believe in science. The only item of faith I think I have is "conservation of consciousness". IE our consciousness existed before our bodily birth (perhaps "always", whatever "time" is). Our consciousness also exists after our body death, and goes on forever. Perhaps transformation happens, perhaps even some exchange of pieces into a universal consciousness... but the "we" separate from our bodies does not die. Nor does it become a "ghost".

Who ya gonna call ? :)
