CATERPILLAR!

D

Durdy

So I'm checking out the ladies today and i found a tiny (about 1 CM long) caterpillar! Now i sprayed with some Bt caterpillar killer up until about week 3 of flowering and I'll be in week seven this up coming monday. They are about a 10 to 11 week strain. They're definitely to far along to hit with the CK again but i don't want a caterpillar disaster like last summer! does anyone have any suggestions or precautions to take so this doesn't turn into a full blown investation?

Could always go all-natural and introduce natural predators in there. Keep those eyes peeled, Durdy! Could be more hiding around somewhere. There's always the manual method of inspection/elimination...which is hella tedious. Been there done that last month...

Yea i've been meaning to get some lady bugs in there, do they eat caterpillars? and yea i've been there as well, last summer had a serious caterpillar infestation on my blue dreams X skunk #1. The caterpillars started small and green and ended big and purple! it was a bitch removing them every morning and they just seemed to keep coming! Hopefully the situation this year isn't that bad and the girls start to finish up soon, its looking like the end of october though, so theres some time left.

Yup...it is that time of year-- Do the Bt until the last 2 weeks--
It is either that, or have cats--:)

Really? you think it's chill to keep spraying? Check out my greenhouse thread and look at the macros and let me know what you think, thanks!

Lady bugs won't help with the caterpillars, and any type of beneficial insects take a while to get established to do any good. The only advice I have is to stay vigilant, thats what I've resigned myself to with my caterpillar "issue". More often than not I find the worms by seeing the damage already done. Lol to us both.

yea caterpillars are a bitch! I think i'm just gonna hit them with the BT caterpillar killer I've got 39 - 42 days left so there's some time.

Just went to your thread and I personally those plants have a ways to go, plenty of time to spray more BT. I'd get on it quick, those caterpillars can really get going this time of year. BT's not so poisonous (to people) any way. It's mainly just smelly. It's one of those organic compounds that breaks down fast in sunlight so it's probably gone in a few days. If you wanted to be totally sure, you could follow a few days later with a water rinse.
