I need expert dog owners advice

I read that my dog Bullmastiff sometimes this breed gets stomach problems - in form of too much foam and it can create serious health issues.

So, after years of living with PTSD i can say my brain is ... well lets just say i can not compute the solution to this problem


So i am asking you, what do you think i should do to minimise this?

I have a guess that i must not feed her too much food and avoid food that contains hops and yeast

If you're talking about the accidental swallowing of air, which happens with some bully breeds when they pant, keeping their overall weight low definitely helps.

so i say cut down on fluids and no rushing while eating


Funnily enough i had many dogs in the past, other breeds, never heard of bloat

Bloat can be fatal to large dogs, they should not exercise for an hour after eating. Bloat is when the dog stomach can twist internally and shuts down the digestive tract,not to mention its painful. Bloat needs to be treated by a vet. Sometimes surgery is needed. I lost a Bouvier De Flanders to bloat, while he was on the show circut.

If you feed her dry food, make sure to wet it down and let it soak up alot of water before feeding her. Also try to feed her in smaller amounts more often, and limit her activity after she eats for at least an hour. Other than that, there is a surgical procedure but I wouldnt recommend putting a mastiff, giant, or bully breed under anesthesia unless absolutely necessary, they can have a very bad, if not deadly reaction to it. Also you may want to keep a bloat emergency kit on hand and talk to your vet about how to properly use it. You could save your dogs life, especially if the vet is a good distance away.

Also make sure you know the early signs of bloat, quick responses are often most helpful in cases of bloat and torsion.

stop feeding him all the fried fish, burgers ect ect ......

raise his water/food bowl,,so he aint swallowing air when eating/drinking....(you know the food bowl am taking about yeh)....

after eating rub chest neck ect,,bet he burps,,,......if you can get him to stand on ya sholders (as you sit) & rub his belly this will help bring Air to the top and he will burp.......and like abouve,,let food settle before you go out running/playing ect ect

read up on it bro,,,alot off breed suffer it,,it aint uncommen & never let it take over you/or you dogs life,,,just tweek it..eg helping him burp , raseing his food bowls

there is a feeding/water dish called go slow. it drasticaly lowers the speed the dog can gulp down food. if you are worryed, loock it up. its a good product, and i have had great succses, slowing my dogs eating speed. she used to just suck the food up in notime at all. now she have to get them out of the dich acouple at a time, its much better for her

keep the food bowls elevated help prevent bloat. and after your dog eats dont exercise him or let him run around for 1/2 hour to give the food time to digest.

I lost my first great dane to bloat. Not a lot you can do about it once it starts. They can tack their stomach to their spine as a preventive measure but I haven't had it done to my new ones.

Learn about what dogs should really eat. It makes a huge difference. Dogs aren't supposed to be eating all the grains most food contains. Raw diet would be the best but there are lots of good kibbles out there. Taste of the Wild is top quality at reasonable price. I can tell my dogs are healthier when I feed them better food.

hi desant i just read my vet book on hounds it says to feed with small bowl so they can not gulp the food and enduce air with the food and not to exercise for one hour after feeding the idea to raise the dogs food and water might help .but they say if its acute it can kill the dog .the vet will either insert a tube to exspell the air or if that is not working a needle will be used to remove the air .if you can burp the dog and change how he eats to eliminate some of the air you should be o.k. but its not a good thing for your dog so the suggestions for that slow feeder should be a good perminite sollution.best of luck with this a dog is so full of love for us owners some times we have to spend a little money to keep them safe and healthy aloha bro

make sure you have a elevated water and food dish. Large breed dogs need to have there meals elevated so they dont need to bend there neck so much. This might be why he is gulping so much.
