top dress the guanos, skip the alfalfa( or go light), make a tea with the EWC, humics and such. then water in with the tea.

Why skip the alfalfa?

because hes flowering, no need for alfalfa in flower. and like i said if he does add any it should be in small amounts. but really with the high N guano both are not needed.

thanks jkush...so 10 days into 12/12 aint too late for that?

no way! i apply EWC tea to my plants up to the last week of flowering( EWC TEA NO GUANOS AND SUCH) @ 10 days in you should be doing this either every watering, or every other watering. depending on how much you topdess the guanos(high P). i prefer little but often and top dress every watering. and water in with ACT.

or you can mix the guano with some EWC top dress that and water in with the humics.

thanks a lot jkush

I agree with Jay. Personally I would replace the K-mag with kelp or seaweed. It helps to feed the fungi in your tea and has all kinds of trace minerals.

heres what i've got in guanos..mexican at 10-2-1..jamaican at 1-10-0.2..indonesian at 0.5-12-0.2,and peruvian seabird guano at 10-10-2...which of these should i top dress with?.....jkush,what do you think about the kelp in place of kmag?...von said to put it in there for potassium depletion..

you can do this with the top dressings

1st week of flower - 10-2-1
2nd week - 10-10-2
3rd week - 1-10-0.2
4th and on- 0.5-12-0.2

as for the kelp and kmag. if you have them both you can alternate. otherwise use what you have.

he said he was making this tea this way because last crop the leaves started falling off.. sure you don't need the n maybe 20 days and further into flower but at 10 days a little n isnt going to hurt, as long as its a lower proportion than the p and the k...

also Ive heard magnesium gives a harsh flavor, so taper that off at the end (a little before flushing) if you want super smooth smoke..

thanks jkush, that makes things really simple for me..

how much do you use to top dress? do you break up pelletized guanos into powders to top dress?

its completely plant size dependent. bigger plants get more, smaller plants get less. haven't used guanos in years and i never measured anything when i did. maybe someone else can chime in and give you more accurate measurements.

I'm an eyeballer as well, but I think I wouldn't use more than a cup of guano top dress per 5 gallon pot as an example....YMMV

yea i would consider that a lot.
Considering the rate in which it breaks down to the volume of soil and like you say the size of the plant....I wouldn't go over that 1 cup. Chances are that by the time you find are having issues with a plant and then do a guano topdress it will probably finish up before all of that is utilized. What is the breakdown rate of guano...4 to 5 months for a complete breakdown?
Then again,I mix a little EWC with a guano top dress to speed it up a bit.
I'd be careful for sure.....

depends on the guano I think...

archipelago bat guano has a phosphorus ratio of 0-7-0, which on the container it says is soluble so it can be absorbed into water... there is an additional 5% that will break down over the course of a year, which they say for long term soil amending breaks down to 0-12-0 over 12 months. It is a fossilized guano so it is a fine powder and does not have much of a smell.. it may be more soluble than other forms of guano.. but I think more an issue than how long it takes to break down is keeping it within proximity to the roots.. as it has poor mobility apparently ? compared to other nutrients.. though I guess some people believe with the proper bacteria/fungi control it can be absorbed readily? I think with guano if you are trying to top dress with guano its good to rake a little in around the roots and also water it in with some youve soaked in your water/tea.. with 7% being soluble in water it is definitely quick acting... how much of the phosphorus gets to the roots and touches them would maybe be more of the bottleneck.

Yes....depends on the guano for sure.

why top dress instead of tea? i have sunleaves mexican, peruvian, and indonesian.

it seems like, if you were to add any amount as a top dress weekly, it would build up big time.especially at 1 cup per 5 gal pot per week....
