Storing stash

Quick question: what's the best way to keep your stash fresh? I have heard that the best way is to keep it in the freezer while I have also heard that you just need to keep it in an airtight container.

Opinions?

I use mason jars. That will probably be what most people also use.

No freezer bro, when the ganja freezes the trichs fall off plus it shakes things up. I use green containers (they let the bad gasses out) and store in a fridge set to low. No mold no burping bottles, no problems. After 2/3's of the weight dries off its in a container to fridge done. Karma, One Love

OK I need a verification on one love's statement that in the freezer the trics fall off. That is a real bummer. I just put mine there in their mason jars this week. They had a 4 month cure and I needed some long term storage, 6 months or so. If one love is right I need to get my strawbubbakush out of the freezer. Thanks for the pointers gents and gals.

When you make hash, the trim is frozen first. This is because it make the trichs brittle and easier to break off. Making his statement true
:edit: I don't think it would be bad if you took care with your product, i have never frozen my stash though...

Like most frozen things, when it melts it will regain some elasticity. Lots of people freeze for long term storage. It is the best way to stop it from decomposing. I vacuum pack and freeze a rainy day supply. When I thaw a bag, I do not see a lot of trichs in the bag, and I checked carefully. I've tested a two year old batch and it still had the same potency (as best as I could recall). Just treat it gently while it is frozen and store it in the back of the freezer where it is coldest and least likely to be disturbed. Probably not a good idea to freeze and thaw more than once or twice.

For long term storage I believe that there is no equal to the MVS 45 vacuum sealer. Of course with everything else in the world that is a "sure thing" its expensive.. Costs upwards of $5k.. They make a smaller version (MVS 31) that costs a little over $3k.

The reason why the MVS 45 and MVS 31 are both so good is because they remove the oxygen out of the bag, then replaces the oxygen with nitrogen. Essentially, you can store your goods for years and when you open the bag the buds will be spot on. I bag much of my crop this way, so that in the summer my patients can enjoy the fruits of my labor that were harvested 7 or 8 months prior. All of which will be basically identical to how they were the moment I sealed them. All without having my lovely buds squished.

Prior to that I used 1 gallon canning jars in my "wine cave"
