Not enough clones this time...topping?

Hey guys..
Im a SOG grower, and usually fill my bed up with 100 clones, then veg for 10 days and flip...this is how it turns out:

picture.php

This time around i only have 70-80 rooted clones, but surely i still want to yield well...last round was 2 elbows under the 1800 watts of hps...i will not accept a lower yield this time, so i was thinkin about topping the cuts and keeping them in veg for a week longer, rather than lollipopping them as usual. Its a freakin dilemma. I have also been thinkin about filling up half of the bed with the clones and placing a massive motherplant in the other half of the bed, keeping it filled to the max that way. Third choice is simply to space the clones a little better and simply just lollipop and flower out as usual, hoping the extra root space for the fewer clones will add the needed weight....its a tuff one..please help me out guys..

you could always go the defoliation technique. theres a nice sticky at the top of the hydro forums about it.

I'm on my 1st grow into flowering now with a 60 day veg,
I really want to try a SOG next.

theres a great thread bigger is better?? and a grower named jrosek does a defoliation on his SOG and the results are amazing.

got from some beans i bought doing my part to help
free JoeSchmoe.

hope he and his family are ok.

I dont even know if I'd top em, maybe just let em veg for the extra week like you're thinking of doing. Maybe even just 4 or 5 days will make a difference. You could also feed them a little heavier right now especially with the Nitrogen to promote the upward gowth, maybe just 2 days of back to back feedings, wait 2 days and flip?

I would just space the plants out nicer and veg for a week or so longer, the extra room for roots and more light penetration combined with a longer veg will surely get you a similar yield.

No topping. Add and extra week veg and don't be so aggressive with the lolly this time. Leave a branch or two that will reach the canopy and fill in any gaps. What strain are you running? with a week veg, 60 days flower and the right strain you should be crushing 2 elbows on 1800w. How deep is that soil bed and what exactly is the medium consisting of?

Thanks for the replies guys..i appreciate it.
Actually i decided during the day, that i would space em out nice and give em an week extra in veg. So that pretty much matches the general approach from you guys as well...great minds think alike...
Natgonna: My thoughts exactly...The strains im running this time are. Starfunk( select SensiStar x SK#1 pheno), Bubba, Urkle x ´97BubGum and a cpl of SourD clones. I was meaning to grow only Starfunk and SourD, but lost a whole tray of D to pm...sucks. The bed is almost 3 feet deep and is filled with a all organic mix of blood, bone and kelpmeal, guanos, lime, EM and myco´s plus perlite and EWC.

high man, i was wondering, as an organic grower,
do you do any foliar spraying?

i ask because i know organic growers tend to be a lot
more 'hands-on' with their gardens and it would seem
a simple thing to mix up a milk solution to spray your
clones with, just as a regular thing as the milk certainly
won't hurt the clones i don't believe.

lol, sorry man, just finishing a bowl so i guess i'm rambling.

peace, and stay safe, SOG

nice going looking buds

have no real experience so can´t help you out. but to veg them a bit longer sound best.

Im also going to use 3x600w hps and want to sog but was thinking hydro.
Your set up whit the deep trays look really nice and easy to begin whit so considering to start whit 4 trays harvesting one every 2 weeks.

how often do you have to water and what do you feed them with?

peace
