Did you ever think about opening a public store for growing, what if it were legal; what problems do you think you would encounter.

We all know about the violence concerning drugs down there, but since mexico is pushing openness with it's new drug laws, could one do this like seen in California for medical purposes.

High Bird, So you are a Richard Pryor fan.

MEXICO CITY (AP) August 2009 — Mexico enacted a controversial law on Thursday decriminalizing possession of small amounts of marijuana, cocaine, heroin and other drugs while encouraging government-financed treatment for drug dependency free of charge. The law sets out maximum “personal use” amounts for drugs, also including LSD and methamphetamine. People detained with those quantities will no longer face criminal prosecution; the law goes into effect on Friday. Anyone caught with drug amounts under the personal-use limit will be encouraged to seek treatment, and for those caught a third time treatment is mandatory — although no penalties for noncompliance are specified. Mexican authorities said the change only recognized the longstanding practice here of not prosecuting people caught with small amounts of drugs. The maximum amount of marijuana considered to be for “personal use” under the new law is 5 grams — the equivalent of about four marijuana cigarettes. Other limits are half a gram of cocaine, 50 milligrams of heroin, 40 milligrams for methamphetamine and 0.015 milligrams of LSD. President Felipe Calderón waited months before approving the law.

Growing quality weed in the land of brick, nice.

Can't u just mail order the equipment in?
Or drive over to the states, pick it up, and drive back?

I'm curious if the local police will shake you down for a bribe if they find out you're growing.

Your not worried that the established professionals of this business will have a problem with you moving in on their territory? The cartels down there don't play nice. Be safe.

I bet they have their own growers and market there and you might have problems selling and maybe even growing your product.Good luck though.

I didn't think about that.
I remember on my trip to Acapulco that they had guards standing in front of the banks with machine guns, you don't see that in the states, Mex is a rough place, be careful.

Does sound like a dream life though if you can pull it off, good luck.

Have you looked into buying the equipment there?

man thats just crazy... dont know what part of mexico your talking bout, but the cartels, n gangs would snuff u out in a ny second... an the police would do nothing about it unless, the cartel had them do it for-m. search the news on the mexican cartels, its not good right now as they are trying to take over seriously its the wild wild south... you may want to consider another country, either way - wish you the best of luck on this one....

You don't have a chance. I go down to mexico time to time. You will be dead in a week. Drug-cartel is every where. hell they drive down the street with ak's.

The cops arent the trouble in Mexico. If you set up any kind of business as an American you will be kidnapped, tortured, and left in a sandy pit with your limbs cut off. All those MS13 wanna-be's dont fuck around with someone stepping on their turf.

That's complete and utter bullshit. I know plenty of american owned and run small businesses in Mexico.
Depends on where you are in Mexico. Still, a grow store is probably not a great idea for a gringo.

I also did not think about the competition there.

Do you really think the cops would hassle someone doing this if it were legal to grow.

You are not cut out for this.

MS-13 is a "cartel" from El Salvador. their turf isn't in mexico.

I think the cartels would shoot you dead. Human life doesn't mean much to them, you'd look like a competitor even if small.
