Would a light rail increase yield and quality for my setup?

Closet:
3.7x6.1x8

Two 600s in cool hoods..

If I were to mount the 600s normally, they of course would be in line, each light would cover 3.7x3x8 which sounds nice..

But If I got a light rail 5 I could run the lights side by side..
Would this increase yield and quality, or should I just stick with mounting the 600s normally, one behind the other?

Thanks for any suggestions

It depends a lot on the strain. I have had some that loved the light mover and produced the same product either way. Other strains were haters, and made me totally doubt the power of a light mover.

If I were you I would stagger my 600s diagnolly. So that one is closer to the opposing wall when the other one is up against the wall. Or get really creative and do two rails, two movers. That way you always have a light on either end.

My veg room is where a light rail comes in the best. It is a closet your size and I have a 2x4 tray in the center with my mothers surrounding it. Moving a 400 MH.

With 2 600's and a closet that size I would look into a vertical scrog and trade in the aircooled hoods for a cool tube.

well im not so sure about the light mover with the coolhoods because i would have to figure out a way to secure the ducting where it would slinky..
i actually use to run both 600s vertically.. i might do it again if i train the ladies for a vertical setup.. but right now my ladies are trained for a horizontal setup.. guess ill just run both 600s overhead and see how that works out.

I found my yield decreased after installing my light mover. I think I was simply trying to do too much with twin 600's.

It all about how you use it. Can help yield or hurt yield...

What I learned from using it is not to increase my # of plants.

Keep the lights close together so they overlap and go only short distances on the track.

Dont set the lights to travel so far that they leave any part of the canopy unlit.

Just dont try to do too much with it and I think it could be benficial. That said mine is sitting out in my shed gathering dust. Not sure I will go back to it.

Also the light mover can be used with cool hoods. Look for curtain tracks or traverse rods. Should not be to hard to design something and DIY. Install the rod parallel to the mover track and hang the ducting from the rod. Target or Ikea etc should have pretty cheap.

Hope this helps.

cheers

rather side by side.. you should run them on the same track a couple feet away from eachother and move both lights like a foot back and forth.... this would help you get all you plants evenly increasing yield.

I run 3x1000 lights, tried 3 light rails for about a year.
Learned the same lesson, thought I could grow more plants. They are sitting in my basement collecting dust.

P.S. Besides, the 3 light rails used as much elec as another 1000w light!

i was thinking running them side by side would be better.. no?

I've been thinking about using a 1000w Light with a light track. The 1000w light covers the entire room as it is. And I'm not going for a greater plant count (or should I???). I really just want to have a more even heat dissipation.

I'm worried though:
To cool the 1000 watt light I'm looking at air cooling. Possible. Should it be done with or without insulated ducting?

Eventually in the future I would like to have it the light water cooled? Will that work if the 1000 watt light is on a light mover?

thanks in advance :) :) :)

***Also if this post is considered hijacking someone thread, please tell me. I'm sorry.
I don't post very often. This thread just seemed like a natural fit for seeking the info I wanted.

I am not sure that a light rail would help your situation. It could improve yield slighty because the light would be more even throughout the canopy. The plants would also be a bit stronger too.

I can only tell you that my elect bill went up about $50 when I plugged in the 3 light rails, & went down $50 when I unplugged them. Went back up $50 when I plugged in another 1000w light. & those things 'hummed' louder than my wife's vibrator! Much louder than the ballasts.

I love my L/Mer and it defiantly helps the numbers IMHO...

I'm in a 3'Wx6'Lx7'T tent with a 400w air cooled and it allows me within 3" of the canopy. No hot spots and keeps the canopy even thru out the grow...

All my friends push 1000w and can't produce the numbers I do on my 400w with a L/Mer...
