Obviously I didn't include California, this is for the simple fact that it is not a place I could picture myself living. If you have better reasoning, please explain, I'm open to any ideas. Cali IS actually an option of mine, depending on the November elections... ;)

If you chose other, please list and explain.

BLESS!

Let me reiterate, "Cannabis-friendly" would be referring to:
1.) Relative plant count for Medical Card carriers
2.) Possession amount for Medical Card carriers
3.) Mandatory Minimums
4.) Enforcement by local LEO's
Etc......I think you get the idea...

I voted other...My answer would be Maine....marijuana friendly, but a hard place to run a business.Taxes suk,weathers cold,electricity expensive.....

Its hard to say.. all of these states have large populations of open-minded people who are likely to keep cannabis legalization moving forward. All of them are also beautiful places to live :)

Some things Colorado has going for it...
-2 large very liberal cities that have voted to decriminalize
-MMJ protection is in the state constitution
-even without MMJ, punishments for possession/cultivation are some of the most lenient
-the mountains

sorry for the quick de-rail, but California is a huge state man, with some spots having a low cost of living. Why bypass it?

Anyway, I tried to ask the same question in a thread a few weeks ago. I have found in recent travels to a variety of potential grow sites for me that Boulder and the surrounding areas are incredibly pot-friendly, and I find myself in nostalgia at the constant beauty and genuinely unique environment.

I found pot easy to get in Maine a few weeks ago, and it was very laid back. After I got connected a conversation was struck in such a manner that made me realize there was money to be made in Maine for growers, with minimal punishment involved. Problem is, after you grow your pot, YOU HAVE TO LIVE IN FUCKING MAINE! lulz.

If you're just a hobbyist with no interest in making a living off this, there is no alternative to California. Just isn't. If you're looking for a relatively friendly area in a relatively untapped environment, it gets tricky(er). I can say for certain the Michigan has a huge demand not being met by supply, particularly in and around Ann Arbor. But alas, again, then you have to live in fucking Michigan. Oregon ruled, but everyone had cheap pot hook-ups. I found it very unlikely that I would be able to make money in Oregon.

I would have to respectfully disagree with the bold parts..It is all depending on the county on which you get popped.. They are working to reform the cannabis laws here.. They will definitely try and through you in jail in a good portion of the state if your not medical for cultivating/ felony possession. Trust me.. My vote either goes to Oregon or Colorado.. I'd see how the next couple of months play out before moving out to Colorado though lots of changes coming..

funk would know better, so take his word for it about that part.

ambition is right on... if you're not looking for business opportunities but just a nice place to relax and do personal stuff, all of these are great options.

Also, if I could add one more thing to Colorado's list: after California, its one of the sunniest states in the country, I believe. Winters in the mountains are, well, they're mountains. But in any lower elevation cities they are mild and the skies are almost always clear.

NYC. No MMJ but the entire state smokes and pot is a low criminal priority. Your harvest will sell itself in a day.

Hiya Funk! Thanks for stoppin' by!

Yes I lived in N.M. for a spout, and the sunsets were also spectacular there. Colorado has been my designated goal for many a year now, but after hearing about the recent changes in the laws was opening my options further.

Maybe I'll just have a summer cabin in Oregon, but live in CO! Lol.
One could only hope.

I would love to live outside of the states, but I too have done some time overseas and found I just love the good ol US of A.

So what if China is going to invade in 10 yrs?
hehhh.

I just heard from a buddy of mine that a dispensary in Montana got firebombed or something? Beautiful state, and I think it has the last road with no posted speed limit, but shit.....don't wanna get me, the old lady, and our kitties firebombed!

Yeah but it was in Billings some serious right wing republican tweakers there.. In general the people of Montana value their freedoms granted by the US Constitution, they just want people to leave them alone up there..

Hey Ioni, I'm sure you have plenty of people giving you answers already, but I voted other. Northern California is beautiful man, cliffs, ocean, mountains etc. I'm sure you're already familiar with the MJ scene going on there in NorCal. It would be my choice. Good luck whatever you decide... :)

I would not recommend montana at all. I went to college there and it fucking sucked. The mountains are beyond beautiful but you have to deal with red neck pieces of shit. We called in "Mantana" hardly any ladies. I moved back to oregon as soon as I could. But if u dont mind dicks you could make a killing up there. Weed is very spendy, 60 an eight even for shitty stuff.

All are good choices.
But change is coming to Colorado, we'll see how it goes. It seems our State Gov't is just doing the dog and pony show to the public, and taxing the grower. All they really want is money here, but that can all change quickly, just like the weather here. Most people here are really cool about weed, but there is still the 'Not in my backyard' mentality around many parts of the state. Those are the fuckers that want to put you in jail.
Also, price is dropping rapidly while regs are making it harder to grow more to compensate for the price drop. So from an economic standpoint, you missed the boat in Colorado. You are about a year too late.
And no telling what is going to happen to Colorado when Obama fails to get re-elected. They are also starting to bust the Mexi grow ops out in the forests here, which will mean one thing...FEDS.
