any Digi will work the better the higher the mp the larger u can crop the photo with no visible degradation.

some truth to this, but higher mega pixel pretty much = larger image doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be a better photo I think the lense/iso of the camera and such is more important then megapixel. :)

lens/iso wont come into play with point and shoot cameras those u need to rely on MP. The first pic That setup cost 1500$ that is a DSLR. The 2nd pic is point and shoot u can not change the lens and most of the settings are fixed. That camera was 200$

Those are great for a point and shoot. I love my canon 7d, You can use it to shoot 24P 1080 Video, same size sensor as 35mm film, gives you cinema like video, still not quite there tho, hehe. Changeable lenses and stuff are what makes the DSLR the way to go.

There's a new class of cameras that are the size of point and shoot with interchangable
lenses. They're somewhere between dslr and p&s. Been checking out the ads for'em. I
love my Nikon D90 but it's too honking huge to take everywhere so I'm gonna pick-up a
p&s to replace my venerable sony 2mp, lol. Def going to get a straight p&s I don't want
the hassle of lenses with my simple camera. :) 10 to 12 mp is more than enough info and
it will have simple macro capabilities.

Yeah..the GF1,CANON S95,LX5 are all primo point and shoots..oh,and not to forget the SAMSUNG NEX5 and EX1.
Look these up,take yourself to a reputable dealer, find out which one handles the best for you, then make a decision.
Spending some time with the camera so you work out how to get the best shots is just as important.
