Record Keeping

I have just begun my first 'serious' grow and would like to do things right. I would like to keep some sort of a journal recording daily feeding, temps, humidity, etc.

I am trying to get some ideas on what other things people like to record?

Please share!

I used to keep good records. I am talking Spreadsheets and shit. Now i have to go to my grow diary and check things. I have a small personal garden, so once i got a knack for things i didnt need as detailed records.

i used to keep.

date, plant id #, what i did. health of plant, ph, ppm, a few pics

Any more suggestions on how you guys do things is welcome!

i have something like the first pdf. but i made it in excel and I have the date and day of the week auto filled on the left, also each day is labeled 1-60 so I know which day of bloom I am on. I have an area for notes and jot down if I changed the res, what I put in etc

I don't do any record keeping other than that in my head. Less evidence is a good thing if the worst was to ever happen. Slight modifications each grow works well. I'll keep record of yield per plant, but then shred it once I've thought it over some.

I'm generally a meticulous record keeper but found keeping track of my plants in high detail to be worthless to me. If I was breeding I would keep more details but now I only note 3 things:

DateTime
What I did (W for water, F for fed, T for transplanted, etc)
pH / ppm

and sometimes I'll note important things (any suspicion of root rot for instance.)

That's it. But in hydro when I'm getting a new system setup I keep track of pH/ppm of the res a lot more often (twice a day) until the system is stable.

Example entries:

09/08/2010 - W all pH-5.25
09/06/2010 - F all pH-5.28 ppm-850
09/04/2010 - W all pH-5.21
09/04/2010 - F clones pH-5.29 ppm-300

I like to measure height of plants and thickness of the stem (caliper found at auto or hardware tool store).

I like to record total weights and then look at stats of the plants throughout the grow. Then I try to replicate the conditions and performances of the best plants.

I don't keep records either. I post notes and pics in my thread here and that's it. Every plant, every strain will have unique requirements every grow. The plants are ripe when the trichomes are amber/cloudy. I've learned that keeping vague mental notes is plenty even on my pretty large grow, as it helps me focus on what the plant is doing, not what my notes would make me assume.
