How's the senor Garcia and OPT types going? I'd love to see how they look... I've never seen much pictures but always had a sincere interest in these gene's they seem very unique and special. I'm overly excited to hear you have these in bean form!
Best wishes UHN!
oh I'm so excited.
maybe you could make'em into a cross of some sort to increase the vigour? and spread the seed? haha lol. Good luck on your works UHN.

SQ, Only looks that I will end up with one Senor Garcia as the last two seed sprouts don't want to grow root and are slowly dying. I'll try to keep the one good one whatever sex.

Here's a couple of pics from today (6 weeks).

Stems and petioles showing significant purpling even in very warm weather. Rubbing the stem brigs a strong hash/skunk aroma. Look at the long twisted leaves he's throwing (I'm going to call it a he, because all others have been males).

I just smoked some of the Sour Garcia (Senor Garcia x Sour Diesel IBL - Foxtail Pheno) and posted a report in my thread on Reservoir Seeds forum. It is some really speedy weed. I gave it a so so score because, one, I am critical of any crosses I make and two because taste and smell didn't come close to the high.

Here's some pics of OTH2, Mystery (OTH1) and Bangi Haze.

OTH and Mystery OTH

OTH2

This is what I expect from the descriptions, thin, light green leaves.

OTH?

Leaves are thinning somewhat as new growth appears, but I'm not sure what we are looking at here. Maybe there was a rouge pollen cross which would make this ??? x OTH. Let's keep the thoughts coming as we watch it grow out. A really lovely plant with slight odor.

Here's a family photo of the Bangi Hazes...

Solo Shots 1-3, sorry #1 is blurry

I'm going to top clone each of them in a few days as well as take cuttings of the OTH mystery. Really smelling fine...I'll wait a week or two before attempting clones of the OTH2 or Senor Garcia.

Yes GreenMind, I have to agree. I'll hope that the mystery (OTH1) is at least a good cross from some stray Ace Pollen. It is a really nice looking plant.

2-COOH, agreed. Mystery Haze it is.

Sorry for no updates, I've been traveling with more travel to come. I should have more pictures in a week or so. The mystery Haze is looking lovely!

Sorry for delays in posting, here are a few pics before I can get some good ones...

Here is the OTH X ??? Not sure what we have here from an original OTH seed bank. Still would like Dubi's advice.

By the colour and stout nature of that plant, I feel it isn't OTH. But then I look again, the leafy-ness and who knows?

There should be no 'passed some roadkill on the way' smell on this lady:thank you:
but you should know. for sure, for sure, when she's ready in February:moon:

Yes GreenMind and Charlie Garcia, she is a mystery for sure. I'm calling her OTH x ? because I am guessing that it is a stray pollen seed from the original OTH female used in the cross. I will continue to update the group.

Very little smell on her and what smell there is is definitely not skunk or road kill. Slight astringent, grassy.

Here are some additional pics from yesterday. Again, apologies for the quality, I was in a rush to shoot before the lights went out.

OTH (the real deal)

Similar smell to the OTH x ?, but even lighter. Still no sex, but looks like it will be a female.

Bangi Hazes

When I chopped the top of the trifoliate, it did not have any shoots to throw out at the cut, so it is slowly vegging from underneath. Not sure if that is the norm. Still not sure about sex on these three. I will inspect further this weekend.

Also, clones waiting to root. 1 each Bangi Hazes and several cuts from mystery OTH.

Senor Garcia

For those of you interested in the Senor Garcia, here she is. Yes, I said SHE!! Found pistils on her a few days ago. This will be the first female I've ever grown of Senor Garcia, so I am excited for sure. I will take clones before flower to ensure she stays with me. I will use some of my Sour G males in a later pollenation to bring a cross that is 75% Senor Garcia, 25% Sour Diesel. Also, I plan to cross her with other males as I find good ones.

I pinched her top a week over a week ago and she threw one large off shoot, while the other has stayed small.

Well some updates.

Bangi Hazes (1, 2, 3)

Bangi #1 has thew tightest nodes. BH #2 and #3 are much longer node lengths. Both #1 and #3 have a similar hashy smell with #2 being a bit more sweet (putrid). They all look like they are showing female preflowers. Still too early to call it 3 for 3, but I'm leaning towards thinking they may be.

Here is the OTH at week 9 or so.

No sign of preflower, very mild smell.

Here's the mystery OTH x ? week 10 or so.

Again very little smell like the pure OTH. No sign of preflowers.

Finally, the Senor Garcia female at about 10 weeks.

Similar but milder smell to Bangi Hazes. Purple streaks up and down the stems with very purple petioles. Pistils at every new node.

Should all be going 12/12 soon. Some outdoors, some inside. Still deciding how I will flower them.

Cheers,

YEAH! sooo glad to hear you've got a female Garcia!
I guess it should be called a senora Garcia??
Look at this, I'm so giddy I'm making bad jokes... Keep up the amazing work UHN and good luck with your breeding of the senor garcia! sounds like an interesting project!

I would love to see you flower the Senor Garcia outdoors UHN! Maybe it would love to flower outdoors?
I bet you'd get ample amounts of vibrant colours!
Have you kept any of the male pollen from your other Garcia plants? to me that's some really valuable pollen! I've been searching these boards for a long time to find someone who had any oregon purple thai, or anything similar or hybridised n' there is some people who've got it in different forms. Those gene's are rare and exciting to hear about!
do you know what the high is like from the Senor G? do you know the original parents used to make it? I think it was a lowryder and Opt(or was it a panama?) but I know nothing of there specific characteristics. have you got any background info?
:thank you:

TheSg,

Glad you are enthused by the Senor Garcia. I am considering placing her outdoors and I expect you are right about coloring. She should show some lovely reds and purples by the looks of her. Alas, I have no more male pollen. I plan to keep clones of this one. I will cross her to select males. In addition, I have crossed a previous male with Sour Diesel IBL as well as Mod Kali Most. I would consider working those crosses back to this female, which would provide two separate Senor Garcia parents (25% from the first male cross and 50% from the cross to this female) to achieve a 75% Senor Garcia seed stock. I think you could find a lot of phenotypes and ways to explore the gene pool that way.

Speaking of genes, the Senor Garcia is OPT x Panama Red. As I've only had males every time I ran them, this will be my first experience with how she tastes/smokes. I am told it is a sweet and sour flavor. I'll let you know come early 2011 if all goes well.

Cheers, I'll have pics and updates later this week.

Here are some updated shots of the stable.

The OTH and OTH x ? have been placed outside along with the Senor Garcia. In a tucked away location of my garden. Only about 4 hours direct sunlight each day, but should be enough to show some nice floral formations assuming they are females. Should know in the next few weeks. These pictures are effectively first full day of 12/12. I have some house lights that may be too close. Hope they won't cause too many problems.

OTH

OTH x ?

Senor Garcia (female)

Here are the Bangi Hazes. They will stay indoors to sex and most likely scrog a few more weeks before flower. They needed a transplant bad, which you can tell by some yellowing leaves. Just moved them into larger pots. Still unsure of sex on these...

Salut,

sondeos,

Thanks for the kind words. They are all very healthy green for sure. The plants I put outdoors only get about 3 1/2 hours direct sunlight, so we will see how big/full they become. I have been able to sex 2 of the 3 Bangi Hazes. Bangi #1 is a male and Bangi #2 is female. The third Bangi (trifoliate) is still unsexed.

More to come as they continue on their way.

Here's some new pictures this week. A gray, rainy day here...

OTH (believe it is original)

I think the plant needs a bit more dark in the current schedule before we will see whether it is a male or female. I hope to have it sexed by months end.

OTH x ? (Mystery genes)

Just starting to stretch at the start of 12/12. Still very mild smell. Small burn on a few leaves as we got a heat wave right when I transplanted. Hope to have sexed by late October.

Senor Garcia

She is starting to stretch now. Not much in the way of pistil formation yet. Nice strong aromas, sour, skunky. I am anticipating she will finish right around Christmas.

Here's a shot of the two female Bangi Hazes.

I will let these two fill in a screen for a while under fluoros before installing the HPS. I may try a naked bulb this time as I have seen good results in place of my vertical reflector. I culled the male but have a clone of him for pollen production. He was the most beautiful, symmetrical plant, so I am hopeful his clone will produce some nice pollen for the females currently growing.

Cheers Ace and sativa fans!
