Skydiving Anyone?

Anyone tried a jump with a wingsuit?

My understanding is that you need at least 200 skydives under your belt before they'll let you give it a shot, and that's some serious $$$, but a potential 3:1 glide ratio and the ability to cruise down through gaps in the clouds like superman sounds sublime to me!

No thanks. Even when I would go cliff diving at the local lakes. I would have to get a running start. If I stood there and looked down, I'd never jump. There's no way in hell you would see me jumping out of a plane...LOL

Ooooohhhhhhhhhhhh that makes me want to go again. I've only been once, tandem of course, but shit that was fun. What really surprised me was the NOISE from wind rushing by during the fall. Not that any part of it can top the adrenaline rush during initial free fall, but the instant and total silence after the parachute opens was amazing, too. Pure fear/excitement followed by absolute peace in a split second. It looks like you were near a coastline. I loved floating around and watching the sun go down over the water. Truly amazing experience. Anyone who thinks it's crazy is...well, absolutely correct. But next time I'll be the first one out the door. :joint:

Yes, please! Who wouldn't want to FLY? I guess I need 199 more jumps.

Falling from 15,000 feet is very safe when in that backpack are two highly designed and gone over with a magnifying glass on all the seams. Or at least that is what my jumpmaster did. Filled each cell with air to check for sewing problems. If you don't open your parachute or say you pass out there is a computer gadget that measures altitude and rate of fall and if it is in the danger zone it automatically cutes the rip cord and you have a jolly good ride. I have 44 jumps with some up to 15,000. Its a wonderful thing. There is no sensation of falling because your insides are falling at the same rate as you are. It just gets very windy. I say everyone at least do a tandem jump with a jumpmaster.
They explained the "no falling sensation" and while my understanding of physics said "that makes sense" I still didn't believe it for some reason. They were right. Apparently BASE jumping is the ultimate adrenaline rush.

yeah i did a tandem jump two years ago it was fucking awesome!
i wanted to get my license and gear and do it more often but never coughed up the cash for that.

my dream would be to do base jumping one day that must be an incredible experience.

tho i heard the adrenaline junkies get burned out when they jump regularly and get depressed off-season? lol

oh and funny thing is all the guys at the skydiving place i went to were major potheads and asked me to hook them up afterwards LOL.
