concealment in vehicle

I'm not sure it is in accord with site guidelines to discuss this so I apologize in advance if I'm overstepping.

A friend passed this trick on to me with regards to concealing things inside a vehicle, two words: Engine compartment. He used to wrap things up in a water tight container and put them in the coolant overflow tank. Now granted this would not work with large objects. But I thought it was clever and I thought I'd pass it on.

He had a criminal record for drugs and was like a cheap watch, stopped every 5 minutes. So in desperation he came up with this and apparently it works. Of course his drug of choice came in smaller packages so it was easier.

Another places would be the windshield washer tank.

But the best place I thought of just now, is the air filter box. Right under the air filter is usually a plenum. It's used to reduce air intake whistling noises. Perfect for small-medium size objects. Also the advantage is the negative pressure inside the airbox ensures that any vapors escaping the object are sucked into the engine and burned.

Just make sure it's placed before the filter, not after. Otherwise the smoke coming out your tailpipe will have a familiar fragrance

I was thinking the same thing with the air filter box.

The coolant tank is too hot for weed.

Like you would just have to do it clean, but on some level I am scarred that the engine bay being hot would some how cause a dog to hit on it.

if its just a personal amount you can use a magnetic key holder and stash it well concealed on the undercarriage. I have travelled hundreds of miles using this method many times and never a worry. a decent sized one can hold ~ 1/4 oz.

SCREW THAT! Antifreeze is toxic... I would NOT want that in my lungs. The airbox would probably be a better bet...

I did have a friend who said his datsun 240z could hold a qp in the airbox

If you have a pick up truck, the ones where the spare tire is cranked up and down on a chain under the bed...there is a good space in the rim, and it goes tight up against the bottom of the bed, so nothing can fall out-- Room for a couple of lbs there--
The good thing is, it is considered outside the vehicle...meaning anybody could have put it there--

A friend of mine was robbed at gun point by a few guys , took off in a Cadillac, the neighbors called the fuzz because they saw it go down.
Cops , pulled the caddy over, no gun to be found.
I heard through a high school kid, the kids were at school bragging how they hid the strap in the engine compartment. Anyway, its not the best method but might work.
I was on interstate 80 through Illinois, got pinched, and I do remember them popping the hood and trunk. Years ago. .

Yeah I figure the local sheriff would be too lazy to poke around in the engine compartment, he might get dirty. Customs though, I'm sure they would pull the car apart.

I heard about some guys in FL that got off with work in the panels of a rental, no prints etc, but sounds like urban legend to me. dont care what lawyer you got.

It is grossly irresponsible to promote a misunderstanding that such practices are risk free.

I personally know someone who got knocked with it in the flip out part of the gas tank - small level personal herbal situation gone wrong, and he got stuck with it too.

its one thing to be an armchair lawyer its another to walk into a courtroom as a defendant, I would never gamble on hoping that it'd actually FLY that I didnt know I was transporting multiple pounds in my spare tire. possession is 9/10 the law.

why not put some effort into a superior alternative

As KMK said , "Reasonable Doubt". Establishing some sort of reasonable doubt, can help you. I dont think anyone said they "should go out and start packing their shit in the engine compartment". But then again, im not rollin with Two12'sKnockin...

The pro's have seen it all & then some. Tanks inside the gas tank, hell even motors ripped apart & put back togethor missing a rod & piston!! I was watching border patrol last night & those guys had the dash of a VW Taureg ripped apart. There was a secret compartment in the firewall shielded from x-rays with lead, to bad the border patrol had a gamma-ray scanner! They knew enough to track the added on wires from the fusepanel to find the slenoid that opened up the secret compartment. Shit was no joke, they even had mounted & wired PC fans so the centervents would still function.

Locals might not be sending your car through a gamma-ray scanner, but they can bring out the dogs & if there is a hit they WILL tear your shit apart. If there is a hit near the engine bay they WILL check the airbox, resonator (The thing mentioned to reduce whistling) washer res, etc. I've seen cars at the auction with custom welded stash boxes, or had the seats slashed open during a search, and this is in a not-so-populated & no HTA (High-traffic area).

Stay safe guys, one time I was busted in a dorm the first thing the cop asked is "Who else has a key to this room" Now why is that? I like the truck tire idea, or even just a backpack in the bed maybe?
