LED The Games Begin

well ive been away from the boards for almost two years, for someone that´s been posting in weed forums since overgrow time, it was very sad, but it was a personal choice, wen i first registered in IC i didnt toke it very serious and used a nick that was not very safe, because i already used it in other activities and after i started to get more into growing\breeding i did not want to get associated one to another, because it would be disasterous, so i did have to make a hard choice, and loose all my contacts\friends in here in order to get a clean cheat and dont have the adicional paranoia that i was beffore ive made this decision, so now that its done, its done, and i know that most of you can understand my decision.
well let me get to the good part, im finally back to growing , im so stoked about it i cant stop looking at them, it seems like wen i was a teenager starting to grow, and specially because this time i got something new to, the 300 watts LED lamp, for now im loving it, and the plants to.
this grow will be majorly sog of a cross of jack herer female vs lots of horny males, i call it "EMPEROR" , i got a bunge of seeds, and as i was out of clones i did not think twice, i put a andfull of seeds germing on a coco bucket, and got almost 40 plants, so i will be taking the males out and making a SOG, so i wish the are uniform, but with the diferent males maybee im in for some ride!!
i have some strains in there aswell, because i love to make crosses and to experiment diferent strains, i love diversity, in veg i got :

O HAZE X SKUNK 1 MALE - SAM THE SKUNKMAN

hey Irie, thanks bud, the medium that i use is coco, no particular brand really, ive use allmost everyone that i can buy, and they all are the same really, maybe canna is a litlle better, as for nutrients i am using some left overs from other grows, some atami, hesi, but i have an H&G coco kit to open, im saving it for more than 2 years, im a cheap basterd,hehehe,the sog will be composed by 40 4 L round pots, the strain is a jack herer cross called EMPEROR, as for the leds im not 100% shure but i belive this are the specs:

300 Watts Quad Band LED Grow light 2010 7th series CE,6:1:1:1 Ratio Use Bridelux Chip,96x3watts chip

y guys, not more to show just some more pics of the girls in their temporary spot till the 1,2x1,2 m tent is in place, but they dont mind as long as they are basking under LED´S,hehe!

these two are in the infirmary ward, i saved them from a coop a have with a friend, they were overferted badlly, i think i see some improvements in the last days so i think they´re gonna make it, the leafs are recovering the green on them, but they suffered baddly.

Cool thanks for that bit of info....I plan on running a similar style grow in the coming months once i relocate....using 2 126w panels and prob 25-30 plants in 1.5gal sq pots. What size are u flowering them out at and how tall do u expect them to get ? Thanks again for takin the time to answer my questions Take care

no problem irie, well since they arent clones and, they might get uneven i will flower them small, like maybe a foot max, since i dont want them to get big,the perfect situation would be 40 clones but since im going with regular seeds and they wont be much uniform because of diferent male parenting and i will have to sort the males out,so i just hope there are not that many, if so, i have 12 Amnesia Haze clones that hare almoust rooted,so i can use them if i get a bad female\male ratio, the goal will be 7 to 10 grams per plant, if i got 10 grams per 40 plants that would be awsome, but im shooting a bit high , but ive seen grower with the setup u talked, two 126 LED lights and 25 plants, he puled out 280 grams, so with SOG the leds are already working close to the gram per watt that most of us would only dream on with HPS.

well having plants in veg is kinda boring, so ive decided to germ some seeds that i had on the "seedstash", mainly because im affraid some of them dont germinate, so if i stored them for much longer the germ rate will be reduced over time, so the choices were:

5 MK99(MASTER KUSH x C99)

I'll subscribe to this thread. Looking at starting up my first indoor grow after the outdoor season is through and I want to make sure I've weighed all my options, LED set-up being one of them. I wonder soon they'd pay for themselves?

welcome to this thread bro, yea the leds are the very best "pound-by-pound" grow light in this moment, if you don't think in short term, because everyone knows that HPS/MH grow light is cheaper than an LED fixture, but if we think it well, the HPS will require much more investments to control the temperature, and if you compare, the normal Gram Per Watt racio on the hps is half a gram per watt, in leds im seeing lots of people getting really close and some passing the GPW goal, the best that i remember was 280 grams out of 240w leds, 25 clones,and remember that hps uses more watts than it advertises, like a 400 watts uses up to more 40 watts because of the ballast i gess, the leds usually uses less then it says, i guess that on hazy´s LEDvsHPS thread you can see this examples, so all of those factors lead me to this choice, but its my first time using them so im still on the learning process.

thanks man, the panel is 30 cm x 50 cm, and its a bit far from the plants because theres alot of them in there, so the farther from them, the more coverage i get, but the led should not be to close to the plants because of the spectrum, it must have some minimal distance to really mix all the diferent coulours.

so the galls are almost a week under the leds and they look great, at first they were not growing much but as soon as i started to water them more frequently they reacted right away, so i will give them maybe another full week and after that its flower time, maybe sooner if they get to a nice size before that, i want to keep them short so
this veg time will be critical.
heres the Rifle clone recovering really well under the LED´S:


From all the seeds that i put to germinate only
the Deep Chunk poped, but thats life,
just wanna see if i can get a nice male and female
out of them, wen i ad deep chunk males in the past
they were hard to keep in veg, lets see if these new
batches keep that trait.


the Amnesia Haze clones started to show roots after 7 days,
i was happy about that because i had some trouble
in the past with clones, normally due to cold temperatures,
but at 25 degrees Celsius they rooted just in time!

thanks fat.labia, i think that the investment in LED´S is already viable, because the gram per watt and the saving in electricity, if one does a year budget, the LED will be less expensive,just have to save some money, and then it comes back wen the power bills go more than half, an example 600 watts hps , more 2 RVK to air renovation, in led 300 watts plus a fan and passive intake and if you want a sunnon taking hot air in the top, less the watts and noise, its all beneficts and that for me was what "sold" me into the LED world!

well two days ago i went to my other grow location and found some nice lady´s waiting for me, i didn't expect that, because a had so many bad news from that grow that i was surprised to find them well, at least the flower room, because veg is in very bad shape, i dont have time to attend them and my mate is not handeling the situation, so i may have to start over veg

Ugh, hate workin with ppl... the dude whos "helpin" me with this round is so fucking unreliable. U tell him he has to do something and hes like ok, later and then thinks he can wait a few days to handle shit! Hate that shit. This is the last round im workin with any1, back 2 solo next 1, may as well get all the meds since I'm doin all the work anyway.

yea Fat J, that´s whats happening to me, and im full of it, its such a bad situation, making a 2 people opp was a last resort thing but i know is not ideal, speciality in this case that im the one that puts all the knowledge, strains, well he only has to do minor maintenance work, and still, he manages to neglect the plants like crazy, just a couple examples, once i had some unsexed plants and i had in mind to keep some males so i told im to like hold it down a little so i could save them, but i wasnt aware that he was going to let them get really big and pollinate the hole grow, this last time he was talking that this one critical + had a really big bud, and wen i went to check it, the first thing i noticed was a really big Cochineal (Dactylopius coccus) and lots of babbys, i was like, i could he drooled so much over that bud and never saw the dam thing, i ended up chopping it so i dont risk the hole plant, man hes a cool dude, but he only likes to smoke, and i really enjoy growing, and i think that unfortunatly you cant teach that

heres the C+ bud and the nasty bugs after i removed the big one, i dind wait till i got the cam to do that, but it was a big fuckerr!!
