Menthol/Camphor odor (Vicks Vap-O-Rub)

OK, so I popped some LUI x Blue Moonshine beans (along with some Sensi G13/HP x Blue Moonshine and some other stuff) with the intent of making F2's. Due to natural selection and some culling by me, I ended up with 2 very nice LUI x BM ladies and a couple of males, along with 2 nice G13/HP x BM ladies.

I hit everything with pollen from a nice LUI x BM male. Now as the seeds ripen and the bracts split open, I'm picking mature beans as I let the buds fully ripen. Of the two LUI x BM females, one smells of fruit/berry and the other smells just like Vicks Vap-O-Rub.

It has that menthol/camphor smell that Vicks has. After I had picked a few beans, my GF asked me why I was using Vicks. It freaking reeks!

I don't know yet if it will keep that odor after a cure, or if this particular terpene will show up in the F2's.

Anyone else ever encounter a Vicks like menthol/camphor smell, and did it carry over after a cure?

I've found the bud will usually keep it's ethereal aroma but it won't have the initial bite compared to fresh bud, I'm not too sure about the warm vicks smell but the cooling camphor/menthol aroma usually cures to something acrid and ethereal

and I have to say that is probably one of my favorite smells, maybe with a little more complexity but this is a base smell I'm very fond of.

keep that pheno man, the Vicks smell is hard to find. I grew out a pack of white castle by nirvana awhile back and two of the phenos in that batch were the Vicks phenos. I'll never forget that stuff, some of the very best, most potent weed I've ever smoked. Everyone who smoked it was crazy about the vicks flavor and smell. I hope to one day find another vicks pheno. It should keep the smell and flavor, mine only got stronger, after about four months in the jars man oh man that stuff was stellar!

Only had something like that once before and it was lemon menthol camphor taste it was divine. Been searching for something similiar for years!

I neglected to take cuts, but I pollinated the crap out of it and it's loaded with beans. I'll try to re-veg it as well. It's also the frostiest of the bunch and the smell seems to be getting stronger as it ripens!

I was just asking about this smell this morning in the Mass/RI forums, I have this MNS Mango/Widow that reeks of Vicks Vapo-Rub.It's actually not very nice and the plant is nothing like it's spearheaded sativa sisters.She looks like this, the smell is quite powerfull and I've never, ever had a plant smell like this.

I have had a really menthol smelling pheno from this (bluecheese x cheese)x(c4x black russian) cross i made. smelled so much like medicine that when i find it again i'm gonna see how what it does for the common cold

Just wanted to stop back in and say that I am a lucky lucky man. I have found a Vick's Vapo Rub pheno of OG Kush... I just harvested it last week and have been vaping some quick dried buds. Amazing bud, Super vicks flavor and smell, very strong high, just all around killer! The pheno's I've found in this batch of OGK beans have been a real treat. The other pheno I currently have is that killer ass 90's OGK that tasted so good, stuff is great, cant wait to harvest it too. The vicks pheno really stands out though, I guess all vicks phenos are straight dank, right off the plant this stuff is phenomenal, can only imagine what it'll be like after a few months in the jars. Here's a pic of her a while before the cut. It looks a whole lot like the white castle vicks pheno I found, structurally speaking. Really stoked I found another vicks pheno, got a mother of it this time! (She got a little tip burn, was my first time growing OGK)
