Hi everyone! Could someone in the know list the foot prints for the various hid light sizes here for me and others in the future . I've looked around on IC and the net and have come across a variety of footprints stated. Whats true? 3ftX3ft or 1.5mX1.5m or 6ftX6ft for a 600watt? Those are what i have come across and there all over the shop, Thanks for your help in advance fellow IC maggers!

T2,
Legend says 50 watts per sq ft. is a good number to shoot for. That would mean.

150W - 3 sq ft. 1.7 feet squared
250W - 5 sq ft. 2.25 feet squared
400W - 8 sq ft. 2.83 feet squared
600 W - 12 sq ft. 3.46 feet squared
1000W - 20 sq ft 4.47 feet squared

But, that's just the starting point. You'll find guys running much less and much more. .

Here's a chart you might find useful

and another. Lumens vs. distance from bulb. Definitely useful.

Lamps throw light to the sides. They throw nothing aft and a shadow forward. As a result, the footprint is rectangular, not square. Hang lamp parallel to the short side of the grow to increase coverage at a lower height.
