Week 5 - hermies galore!!

Hi guys, please excuse the essay that follows... :p

So I upgraded my soil set up not long ago to a 600 HPS, using lots of lovely Canna w/boost and super thrive, and spraying daily with Plant Magic booster. Just over a week ago the biggest and juciest, a power plant, :'( starting showing balls. I sprayed it with Dutch Feminiser which did the trick - after a couple of days there were no more balls! Now, a week and a half later the indecisive one has started giving bananas, as well as two others. Are there any factors that anyone can think of that would cause this to happen?

I have sat in my space, lights off for 5/10 minutes and there are no light leaks. I have read somewhere that hermies can be caused by over feeding, but I am using just above the recommended dosage for Canna and the spray, so I assume it can't be that. My room does tend to get a bit warm, around 24, 27 on a hot day, but it never gets below 18 at night, so again I assume (hope!) its not that.

Two of the three hermies are not from feminised seeds, I think the third is, but I can not be sure as my accomplice decided to bung a load of random strains in and not label any of them... Genius!

Does anybody have any thoughts as to what may be up, 'cos I am stumped!

stop spraying your plants in flower; cut out the super thrive in flower... see what happens

could be the genetics; some strains are just prone to throwing nanners... its full on balls u have to watch for.... other strains do it when stressed... sounds like a good reason not to keep those strains

what company are the seeds from; while freebies are great i've had a disproportionate amount of nanners from the ones i've grown out sadly; if u do grow em either separate em from the main flower room or be vigilant

thanks guys, have stopped the spraying and the thrive, seems to have stopped more showing from the female plants. The hermies are still odd though, the powerplant is now seeding. Should I keep the seeds? I know some say to keep em, while others say to turf them. It would be nice to have some Power Ata, Power Columbian or Columbian Tundra! Think they are more likely to have just been self pollinated...

If I remember, the PP was from a bag seed and the other two were from Nirvana (I think.) Again though, I had no say in the matter... Have some blueberry clones which I'm gonna stick in there today, and some Pot o' Gold as well. Have always had good results with PoG, very versatile strain with big yields and knock out buds.

Am also gonna convert my closet/cabinet grow into a room grow. May well start a thread with the steps!
