hanging 400 watt hps diagonal in DR80

I have a 400 watt hps that i am using in my DR80 tent. Due to summer temps i had to move my exhaust fan from where i had it, to pulling air directly from the light. Due to the size of my tent and fan, i have had to hang my 400 watt aircooled hood diagonally in the tent.

anyone else do this? Im wondering if hanging it diagonally will cause problems with not throwing a very good light coverage in the tent.

what are your thoughts and opinions on hanging my 400 watt light this way, will i have any problems or should it be good to go? :joint:

Some lamps are orientation specific, others universal. I'd GUESS a U model would be OK. If its Hor or Vert, expect shorter lamp life.

I used a Sun System 2 air-cooled reflector in a DR80. Had to place it at a diagonal in the horizontal plane. It worked fine. In-fact I think the light distribution was more thorough...
I had CFL's on a vertical lamp socket to accessorize on either side of the Sun System. Just for some added blue...

thats what i have been doing, i have hung my 400 watt hps diagonal in the horizontal plane. So far things seem to be fairly even light distrubition. I have a shaded spot here and there due to a fan helping blow air around directly under the bulb.

Any other thoughts lets hear em! thanks guys!
