Going to Colombia

So unfortunately one of my family members is near death, but that means I will finally have money to fly to Colombia. I will be staying with one of my friends in Medellin for a few weeks to decide if I want to move there. Evidently I can get a nice apartment for $200 a month with utilities included.

I mean, if I enjoy my visit, i see no reason why i would continue living in this country.

I was reading about Medellin, and there was this news report from last year about these gangsters in their 20's who sit in their shacks and literally roll joints all day (big joints, which they proceed to sell for $1.50 each), and put kilos of coke in blenders to pulverize it and then package it in gram quantities to sell as well, for an absurdly low price.

Not only that, but the women are beautiful, and i love empanadas.

my friend tells me it's a peaceful city now. he said there are dangerous violent areas, but the majority is peaceful, and it's very beautiful.

Nice man, I was born in Bogota but was adopted a few days after. Have always wanted to go back, and not just for drugs lmao. I hear it is a very beautiful place and as you said isnt nearly as dangerous as it was in the 80s/90s. Best of luck!

I'd love to have a little online business going and live like a king overseas. $200 rent+utilities is nuts. Rent out an apt just for your grow.

There has and always will be gangster in Colombia. It is a dangerous place and if you live there as a gringo you will one day have a problem.

damn 200 a month and joints for a dollar sounds crackin....what are the weapons laws out there...can a gringo carry a concealed weapon for protection? i look hispanic so i probably wouldnt be targetted as a gringo...but i wouldnt feel safe in a third world country without a gun.

I'm not a "gringo", I was born in Santiago. My main reason is to escape the racism in the united states, where everyone who looks halfway hispanic is labeled as a mexican, or at least that's how it is in small town midwest.

columbia is dope!

kind of scary for a gringo like myself, but i met alot of cool people there and never really felt that threatened.. it's really no different than being downtown in any big city, you always have that looking over your shoulder feeling.
the country itself though is BEAUTIFUL, same with the women, and drugs are super cheap, what else could you ask for??

Get to know the local, dont go looking for drugs, it will finds you ...

10 us dollar can score you a few kilos of local herbs,
for a little more you can score anything else..

Be nice to the local, they are very lovely people, if you're single its even better. ...

Enjoy the simple life down there, and i bet you would never want to come back, as for me i m still waiting for the day to return ...

cheers,
