Plasma Induction Grow | Lemon Skunk

Some of you might know me and others might not. I am TheCheese a medical marijuana supporter. I am also a medical marijuana card holder with a prescription from a doctor in my state.
As of late I have been growing marijuana with LED grow lights. I am doing testing to find the best lights/companies on the market today. I want to be able to help others make an informed decision about which LED’s work and which do not work as well. We have all heard and seen all the hype from the LED manufactures out there. It is my intent to weed through The LED Jungle and find the facts from the fiction.

Lighting:
2 | 50 Watt Dual Temperature Plasma Lamp | From Hydroponics Hut
1 Grow-lab 60 grow tent
2 Blue-Cheese, 1 Lemmon Skunk, 1 RocLock (1 Blue-Cheese died, the other Blue-Cheese ended up going outside, Rock Lock turned Male)(all in 3gl buckets)
1 indoor/outdoor thermometer
1 digital PH meter
FoxFarm nutrients {Grow Big, Tiger Bloom, and Big Bloom}
FoxFarm Ocean Forest soil

This journal started on another site. I lost all the info from it so I am reconstructing it the best I can. I am currently on week8 of 12/12. Had some issues one of the plasmas went dim had to send back of exchange took about 2 weeks. So the one plant only had 1 50w plasma on it that whole time. To say the least it is very behind just small starter buds on it at the moment (I will post pics). Have been battling the heat this whole grow. Where I live it gets between 90-110 degrees very hot. Now I am battling thrips bought some ladybugs and have introduced them to the plant last night. I hope they will eat all the little basterds.
During veg the plasma did a good job. Not quit as good as my 90w UFO from hh, but it did do a good job. So this is where we are at at this point. I will get pics up as soon as possible.

OK one the Rock Lock turned male, now down to 1 plant the lemon skunk. Also I had noticed that one of the plasmas was getting dim. the one over the Rocklock that may be why it turned male. It was a fem seed, but I think the stess of the low light turned it male IMO. So I sent back the light for exchange it took 2 weeks. the poor lemon skunk only had 1 50w plasma over it for that whole time. She streched like a Bi$#H.

OK am having a problem with thrips got some lady bugs hope they kill those little bastards. Boy did they do a numer on the plant. Also do to the fact of only running 1 plasma light for 2 weeks she is very behind. She has been in 12/12 for 8 weeks, but only has small buds. I will have to go quit a bit longer I think. She is still streching a lot. Will get some new pics up later. stay tuned

Hi, You've got a very interesting grow diary going on.

Got a couple questions for you if you don't mind...

Do the plasma lights make a lot of noise?

How about direct the heat from the lamp, is there any?

Have you measured actual power consumption for the LEDs and for the plasma light?

P.S. Best of luck with the thrip problem, lets hope those ladybugs are really hungry.

Hey thanks for stopping by.
the plasmas dont make any noise at least I dont hear anything. They put out about the same amount of heat as a 90w LED UFO. I have not measured actual power consumption, but the manufacture claims 45w.

Hydroponics Hut recomends that the lights be suplimental, but wanted to see what they could do as a stand alone. I am pretty impressed with them even with all the problems I have been having with this grow.

HH told me that it flowers better than their 90W LED UFO, so we will see. :blowbubbles:

Looking forward to see your updates dude I hope all goes well for you. Just because people are not posting does not mean they are not reading & watching with interest. :)

Thanks for your answer. Pretty cool that the lights are silent, I know they used to make a microwave oven like hum in the past, or maybe that's only the more powerful ones dunno.

Plasma vs LED comparison should be really interesting btw as they are quite the polar opposites aren't they, very full spectrum with plasma and very limited with LED...

Ok about 5 days ago started to see some bug problems. Looks like thrips, I went and got some lady bugs put them in the tent and will check in a couple of days to see how they are doing. Here are a few pics:

I don't think that the plasmas work well on their own. The plants have stretched way too much compared to using a 90w UFO. I think that the vendor Hydroponics Hut was/is correct in saying that it is supplemental lighting. I have seen grows that use a 90UFO along with the plasma and that grow had good results. I will just keep growing and we shall see what they produce. I may be sticking my foot in my mouth with this one, but like I said we shall see.

Can u super crop when it is budding? I was thinking that this might help, but not sure. Here are some new pics. As you can see she is really streched also very small buds for going into week 9 of 12/12
Also the lady bugs have gotten rid of the thrips. YEAH no more Bugs!!!
