Bare bulbs & circulation fans

Hello,

currently i'm running tests in my newly setup stadium. running bare bulbs. i'm topping out at 85f on average. vented room.

my question is where is the best placement for fans, not exhaust fans, in order to help cool the bulbs?

i'm exploring my options in regards to fan placement.
I've read that some have boxfan's blowing in a straigt line across a few bulbs.
others rely strictly on negative pressure to cool their space
most i've seen blow a fan straight up at the bulb, one fan per bulb
and others have a/c's ready to go incase of emergencies.

opinions? comments?

my space is pretty short, i'm working with 6' high celings here, and i'm not sure if blowing fans up wards is going to help any...but i'm all ears.

will the boxfan under each bulb be effective with such short ceilings? mine are 6'.

do you notice a considerable temp fluctuation when box fans are out?

Yes as soon as fan goes out you can feel the heat rise. I imagine they'd work with the short ceilings, I can't say for sure.

I don't quite understand something (imagine that)....if the box fan is placed directly under the bulb, are you putting the fan flat on the floor? If so, how is it going to pull any fresh air? Wont it be restricted by the floor?

raise the fan a few inches so air can draw.. or use one of them fans with a swivel base that rotates up.

The 12" round fans at walmart fit exactly into a 5 gallon bucket if you take the stand part off. You wedge it in the top of the bucket so it blows up and then using a 3 or 4" holesaw cut many holes along the bottom of the bucket below the fan. Put one under each bulb and it does nice.

You can also put Ona gel, or the correct type of charcoal in the bottom of the buckets to 'scrub' the passing through air at the same time..

I thinking putting a filter on it would restrict the air flow too much, and the ona gel inside the grow room would be pretty bad too(the buds would soak up the smell/flavor. Now if you used the fan and bucket to pull air through a cool tube, and were exhausting it, it would be perfect.

I was thinking of using the bucket idea on the floor under my cool tube and rig something so the cooltube actually sits on the bucket instead of being suspended from the roof of the tent. I'm doing a 4 bucket system which is an undercurrent knockoff I made. 10 gal res and 4 x 5 gallon buckts all connected with uniseals and 1.5" pvc pipe. The retun line is a 3/4" tubing and the res has 2 air stones and each bucket has 1. With a 1000w dimable light which I run at 500w to ease the clones into the system.

ive tried it puttin a fan under the light as described and also without and I didnt notice much of a difference in temp.
I also dont like putting fans so close to the floor cuz it can pick up dust and fuzz and blow it all over yer nugs.

I was around 85f, without any supplemental fans...just exhaust.

..i added 3 box fans, out of 4 lights - the last light is close enough to the filter, and since doing that i'm running consistently at 76-78f.

all i added were box fans blowing straight up at 3 lights.

it works.
