help finding a diy delay timer

i looking for a diy 15-20min timer. there was supposed to be one around page 90 something in (cmh) sub-forums but i cant find it. i know about the cap one but a manufactured unit will be my last option.

I am using a magnecraft tdrsrxb-120v to turn off my cool tube fan 15 mins after lights out. its programmable from .1 seconds to 100mins off delay.

YouTube search for "Bubb Rubb". Probably not what you're looking for, but definitely worth a click.

ok so i think ill go with this unit. question for you jacuzzi or anyone with knowladge of these relays would my input be my 120 neutral and comm and the external control switch go to my ballast? this will be for my hot start prevention.
for that aplication you would want to set it to on delay. Dont forget to order the base that goes with it. It will have the screw terminals to make wiring easy.

Ignore the external control switch that is to bypass the timer.

Pin 2 and pin 10 are for you coil. when power is on those pins the timer starts. pin 2 would be the hot lead from the wall plug. pin 10 neutral lead from wall plug.

This relay has 2 sets of contacts. you want to use the normally opened contacts so you have a choice of pin 1 to pin 3 or pin 11 to pin 9. After the timer finishes the switch closes and power can pass through. So lets say you use pin 1 and pin 3. Pin 1 would be hot from the wall (you can run a jumper from pin 2 to pin 1 since they are both hot from the wall) pin 3 would be hot to your ballest.

For neutral to the ballest run a jumper off pin 10 since it is also neutral and use the ground from your wall plug to the ballest ground.

For any wiring you do you never want neutral or ground to have a switch because you always want a clear path for electricity to travel out in case of a short.

NOTE: The SRX model is a Off-delay and Retriggerable one shot mode only!
You should use SRO model if you want on delay. (in this series)
Pick wisely. ;)

That model if Off-delay and one shot mode only. look at function table/ run demo. ;)
You should use SRO model in this series.
good catch :dance013: I only glanced at the table quickly and thought it was both on and off depending on the switch position. I was thinking what a fancy relay lol. so TDRSOXP-120V is the one you want with an octal base and pin 10 would become pin 7. pins 1, 2, and 3 stay the same.
