Connecting Hydrofarm reflector to DIY ballast kit

The ballast is a 1000w kit from htg supply. The socket is wired directly to the white and black cords from the ballast core, and the power cord is wired separately. Perfect for my cooltube, not so much for my new reflector, which has a pre wired socket and cord set, hydro farm style.

Now, if I cut the hydrofarm plug end off the wire, exposing the white, black and ground, and splice that into my analog ballast kit, will that work?

I assume it would be no problem, other than loosing functionality for the hydrofarm receptacle. I also have an adapter for the hydro farm plug converting to a standard ballast plug. Should I connect this first and cut the standard plug off, allowing me to keep the hydrofarm plug?

Thanks in advance. Adderall. :bump:

you can get some romex or other 600v wire and wire that to the hood. First disconnect the hydrofarm cord from the hood. I did this on radiants. There is a plate or something, you should be able to figure it out.

that would allow you to save the hydrofarm cord.

You can always cut the plug off and wire to the ballast. I have done that with the HTG ballasts. If you cut the plug off, just wire it up per the htg instructions, that will work
