Need help picking new RO SYSTEM

Hello All,

I'm looking to Ebay purchase a new RO system. It's been a few years since I had one and I didn't buy that one, it came with the house. So I could use some help, from someone more experienced with them, picking one out.

Brands to stay away from?
Features I need to make sure I get?
Is there anything I need to figure out/calculate BEFORE buying one?

It will be used for drinking water for my dog, about a dozen various plants and myself. I don't think I need a large capacity system.

I'm not really sure of the differences in the 4, 5 or 6 stage models.

any and all help welcome and appreciated. Thanks

purewaterclub.com $115 shipped 150gpd 6 stage with reef output and float switch. you can get the model that has a tank as well there. they are cheapest in price i've found and i've used multiple from them and they work great.

dont buy a filter of ebay. Yeah it will work but the parts they use are shitty compared to a decent filter. I have purchased quite a few RO systems over the years. All the way to the bottom (ebay) to the top of the line. Hands down order your RO filter from bulkreefsupply.com
I wouldn't get the 150gpd as your membrane is less efficient than a 75gpd. So you will waste a lot more water. Stick with the 75gpd IMO and dont get that six stage crap either. You dont need that many stages. You can get away with a 4 stage but will have to change out DI more often is water is bad to start with. I would get a 5 stage and run two micron filters, one carbon block, 75gpd membrane, and DI resin.

Hey Rasta, thanks for the tips. Great thread, as I am thinking about getting one. The only thing is, I live in an apartment...is there something I can get that would be better for me because I will be moving location in the future? Or for the price, I guess it doesn't matter.

Would the 75GPD be enough for me to fill up a res for a 4X8, or possible two? Would I need a bigger unit for the 40 - 50 gallons I would need for these systems?

How much would it cost to have one installed...plumbers would be the one you would call right?

Sorry, I am such a noob. Thnx

Buying water all the time sucks. I need some help.

If you want to be able to take it with you and use it without causing any damage to the existing plumping you need to buy one with a garden hose adapter or a faucet adapter. Either of those will hook directly up to the corresponding outlet without damaging anything.
