i used to have a vapor bros hands free. it sucks to clean the screen in the whip, but it is very efficient. i now use a vtower extreme and love it and have used it exclusively for about 2 years

Hey, I've been using a deluxe hands-free vaporbox for the past 4 years and it still hasn't pooped out on me! It works great and has a lifetime warranty on the heater (though now they only have a 3 yr or so warranty- I bought it a while ago hehe).

Try this forum:

Best vape forum I've found. They generally recommend the Silver Surfer or Da Buddha vape though many others are also recommended (vaporbox among them)

I've tried a number of vapes and I own a Purple Days (vaporizer) and a Vaporbros Hands-free set with the ceramic heating element (newer model.)

If you can't afford a Volcano, get a Vaporbros. It's $150 for the regular model and $170ish for the hands-free. Overall it's an excellent vape.

The name "vaporbrothers" sucks and there are a lot of ripoffs that hurt its image (people think all "wooden box" vapes are garbage after trying a rip off, for instance) Don't let any of this keep you away..

This vape has a high quality finish. It feels solid. I can't define the metaphysics of quality, but if I had to give an example, vaporbros has an excellent build! An example of a GARBAGE vape is Iolite. It's $250 and feels like a flimsy toy you buy at the 99 cent store.

As for the screen, it's a BITCH to change but I've never had to change it in a couple of months of near daily use. I soak the whip and glass piece in isopropyl alcohol for a few minutes and then rinse it off. My screen looks and works like new.

To use it, I grind and pack herb half-way in the bowl while the vape heats up on the highest setting. When the ceramic heating element is amber, I reduce the heat to the 12 oclock position (highest is 3 oclock) and place the bowl into the heating element (this is for the hands-free set only) and wait 2-3 minutes for the bowl to heat up as well (it's glass.)

Then I proceed to take long slow hits. I take air in between my vape hits. For some of my friends, especially those used to the volcano, the vaporbros is considered very harsh but it's actually just the fact that THC is an expectorant (breaks down mucus in your lungs and makes you cough) and the vapor is hot. If this is an issue, you can take quicker hits which means the vape will be at a lower temperature because there's more air flow going in (less contact time between moving air and the heating element.)

Ideally you should only see a FAINT wisp of smoke when you exhale, but I like seeing big hits so sometimes I raise the setting a little or take REALLY slow hits (you shouldn't hear any noise of air being drawn in when inhaling. If you've used a vaporbros you'll know what noise I'm talking about.)

Tip: If you're having issues getting hits it's probably because the heating element is no longer at the optimal temperature. Usually in a circle of friends, after the vape goes around twice, I take the whip off the vape and let the heating element warm up again for 1 minute. In the mean time I use a bamboo skewer to "shake" the bud in the bowl of the whip. Don't grind the used vape because it will turn to powder due to it being bone-dry.

Tip2: To get an even hit, you should take the whip slightly off the heating element and rotate it while inhaling. The best hits happen when you treat the hands-free set like the original version. The original did not allow you to "plug" the whip into the heating element. You had to hold it there and rotate it while inhaling, hence you had to use both hands to take a hit. This is because the whip will take heat away from the heating element and lower its temp.

After finding this out, I wished I had bought the original model, but nowadays I use the vape a lot and the convenience of not having to use both hands to take a hit is well worth any cons.

I only have one issue with the vape. I don't like keeping the whip inside the vape when I'm done, but the glass part is very hot and may burn you or anything it touches, so I keep it on until it cools down and then I remove it.. this is annoying because I'm lazy. I do this because the whip is suspicious. Without it, the vape looks like a pencil eraser. I wish they would include some sort of heat resistent container/stand/top for the whip for when you're done.

Compared to the Volcano and other forced-air vaporizers, whip-style vapes require skill when taking a hit. You need to adjust how fast you pull depending on temperature, how you turn the whip while taking a hit (tip2 above) etc. It's flexible and I like that.

I love the vaporbros vape. I wasn't expecting much when I ordered it, particularly because I was so used to the Volcano (friend owns one) but it really is a quality product. DON'T get a rip off though and make sure yours has the ceramic heating element.

Purple Days is a great vape too if you can get one. It's sold out right now. Only downside to this is the bowl is too small making it inconvenient for multiple people to use at the same time. It also takes too long to heat up but it was meant to be on 24/7 anyway (uses 3 watts only) but the hits are smooth and clean, and it "feels" good. You can tell there was talented work put into it (they're all hand-made by one man and his wife.)

I have the Herborizer and it's hands down the BEST vape I've ever used... I still own a vaporbros but it's collecting dust... I sold my volcano soon after I bought it... (Dad can't go around the house with a balloon stuck to his face and I found the forced air vapes to be harsh on my sinuses )

Water cooled Vape ROCKS !!!!
here is their website...

Iolite

Iolite

It may feel like garbage to you, but it works like a dream.

I have dropped my Iolite, purchased two years ago, numerous times. Once i found my dog playing with it. It took a licking and kept on vaping.

The reason it's made of plastic is so that it doesn't conduct heat.

I have one of these as well and yes it works fine... for a portable they are great but side by side with the Herborizer there is no comparison... Once you have water cooled vape... it's tough to go back. Also of note...my iolite goes through butane super quick

I've only tried one Iolite model which could have been defective. A friend bought one and used it for 3 days and it has been collecting dust (literally) for the past few months. It didn't get warm enough to vaporizer anything but the terpenes and it used too much butane. I don't mind plastic. My $1000 DSLR camera is made of plastic, but it feels solid, not like the shell was fabricated in China for 50 cents a pop. Again, the one I tried may have been defective. The portability of the Iolite is attractive. Being able to sit in class or at a movie and vape is fantastic and ideal but I can't see it being worth $250.

I thought mine was defective at first too... it was the butane I was using... I used regular drugstore Robinson butane and it needs 5 x filtered butane from a smoke shop to work correctly....once I change the butane it worked fine... it still goes through a bunch but for a concert or a drive it works nice.

For stationary home use HERBORIZER :jump:

@De La Luz: The Herborizer looks amazing. I was thinking about getting the water filter for vaporbros.. might sell everything off and pick one of these up instead. If only I could try before I buy.

Perhaps that's the issue! I'll have my friend buy new butane. Thanks.

I purchased a fitting for the vaporbros to use with a tube/bong for water cooling also and although it worked... the lung power needed to pull the vape through all connections etc was exhausting for me... way cheaper to do this than purchase the herborizer ($700 or so) BUT
again the Herborizer is the champ.
It's always ready for you... when you draw you pull the heat over the smoking material to vape. when not in use... it's just ready for you in idle... :thank you:AWESOME!!! (do you know how much time I've wasted in my life looking for a lighter???? LOL!!!)

I purchased my first one, loved it !!!! and moved it around the house with me from room to room... BAD IDEA !!! it was broken into a million pieces before the first week was done... $700 down the drain... BUT it was such a great pipe that before I even cleaned up the mess I was on the phone ordering another $700 unit and asking that they expedited shipping to get it to me as fast as they could... that was three years ago.
I now keep it stationary in one location and I travel to it when needed. THE BEST PIPE I'VE EVER OWNED!!!!:tiphat:

Hope this helps !
Power to the peaceful !!

I have a Volcano classic and a Vripmaster. My wife likes the Volcano and I like the Vripmaster. It can be a challenge to operate the heat gun but, water-cooled vapor is what I like the best. The difference between the two is noticeable to me. I smoked a bong for 25 years before vaporizing and that's why i choose the Vripmaster with a hot air gun.
