Growing in a Mobile Home?

I've never seen this discussed but it seems that it would be a great idea for the lower budget grower looking for some extra square footage.
I'm not sure if I'll be able to afford a house at this time but would love to up the wattage in a safe way.
Do mobile home owners get the same rights as an average homeowner?
Are there drawbacks?
Would electricity consumption "rules" change? - Should I use less wattage etc?

Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated :D

maybe if u have a nice remote location for ur mobile u can build a "sunroom" not glass walls but glass or translucent ceiling and use no electricity

Out in the backwoods there are gutted trailers made for growing. I knew this guy who bought some land and found one of those old grow trailers tucked away back in the forest from the previous owner.

These are great ideas guys but I am more specifically talking about growing stealth in a mobile home park. I unfortunatly can't drive so my grow locations will have to be within 5 miles of my home or so..

have you ever looked at the service panel of a mobile home? You cant run that much juice but for a small grow they could work.

I haven't, thats what I'm wondering..
Could I run a 10kw grow in there do you think?

good ideas in this thread.

if I had me a trailor on a cheap piece of land, I'd probs go the glass top route. assuming the thing was mostly packed with plants in 5 gal buckets.

it would be humorously obvious from an above chopper view, though. I'm guessing you'd want either some type of special tint, or a quick way to get a tarp or something over it. on second though, just some cover on the inside that slides back and forth under the glass ceiling to cover the top and block light that way. I'm imagining the padded fabric things that slide in cars under a sunroof/moonroof. white on top, black on bottom, and lightproof. it could even be electric and on timers maybe. you could use that for flowering electric or not. if its electric, id use something like "the clapper" to have it auto cover at the sound of choppers

lol imagine chopper flying over seeing it closing like "damn!"

it would just open back up next day on the timer then if it were bloom stage. Veg would have lights flip on @ close. rofl

stay safe lol

Definetly an interesting idea but it sure would be a massive pain sitting around all day waiting for a chopper/plane to drive over. Too risky for my situation :/

I was specifically thinking about doing this inside the mobile home in a mobile park.. Cheap square footage :D
They have 100 amp panels on them I believe.. If I'm not running any electricity besides lights I could run quite a few lights on that.

I have only checked out a couple mobile homes, one for a friend that wanted to do a grow.

I went to where his service panel it had 10/2 coming from meter to his trailer told him he was pretty limited on the amount of power he could draw. He only wanted to do one light, so no big deal.

It depends on the mobile home I would assume, but from my experience the two that I have seen they are limited in power. In my friends case, no 10kw would not be an option. With that amount of power your gonna create some noise with exhaust fans and trailers are not the well insulated and rather close to one another, I wouldn't do it if it was me. But it can be done work with what you got! I am no electrician but I have a basic understanding.

just my 2 cents.:tiphat:

Yea, from what I've been seeing from browing the homes it may be an issue.
1st: Typically some interesting characters reside in mobile home parks.
2nd: I don't fit in very well there I dont think.
3rd: I'd prefer more sound proofness and running that much wattage in one of those small homes might be a little sketchy..

I think I'm just going to look for a 2 bedroom house.

i've seen trailers with 200 amp panels. there is a guy in another state that has a 12k in a race car trailers. no even a mobile home. you can run as many lights as your service panel provides amps for. you just might not be able to live there too.

I did under a trailer grow before. One side was higher than the other, so I dug out a small trench so I had about 6 feet height in the center in between the blocks that were holding it up.

Then insulated the whole thing with R12. Cut a hole in the floor of the closet for a secret entrance. Sound was the biggest factor, and there was a 15 amp breaker that had an outlet under there already.

But that was out in the country and even then I had fucktard red neck kids that broke in once to watch Satellite. Had a closet of buds drying and a couple of autoflowers out back. I shate bricks and told the kids dad since they jacked my ipod, I really felt bad about them getting their asses beat over it. Security was comprimised, finished my grow and moved on. I can only imagine a trailer park being 1000x worst.

I know a old guy who lives in his trailer alone and grows all his own herb. He uses one of the little closets in there. its gotta shelf in the middle. veg on top, flower on the bottom. he runs a 250 watt hps for flower and a t5 fixture for veg. I've known him for years an he's still doing the same thing. electricity should be the same as a house.. if your hooked up at a park. good luck.

Depending on the age of the mobil home, some of them were and may still be wired with aluminum wire not copper. Check the wiring in anything you may want to buy or rent, but avoid aluminum wiring.

Hypothetically speaking I'm setting up for one. This trailer has a 200 amp panel, believe it or not. I was shocked and sported a big grin when I saw it. We were under the screws to find a place to live and had to live in a particular area and had a very limited budge. Doing a grow was part of the criteria when looking at places. There are only about 12 trailers in here and a nice long and crappy dirt road. Thoroughly wooded. It's been about 6 weeks and have yet to see cop.
