Cool plant you got! I've been thinking about same kind of grow, only with leds. Nice to see that people get on to it.

Using such a low wattage require the plant to be as close as possible to the light, constantly.
Its a nice way to grow for a once-a-week smoker but I doubt the yields would do for a daily user.

With LEDs you would probably want to place a piece of glass around 1cm from the light and run some air through the gap between the glass and the LED and let the plant grow on the glass.
If your LEDs doesn't run too hot you could just grow on the panel.

However, if you plan on maneuvering the plant every other day I wouldn't bother considering the poor yield.

Good luck with your idea and let me know if you decide to give it a try :D

Buds are filling up pretty nicely considering the very low light level.

I got my AACT making skills a bit sharper and gave it a much better and more concentrated dose. Hope it'll give it a nice boost.

58 days flowering

58 days flowering

A few amber trichomes have popped.
As its a sativa dominant and yield is not a concern I will probably harvest pretty soon.
My aim with sativas is 20% amber trichomes. (50% with indicas)

Been giving her some compost tea and she seems to like it.
As I plan on a week or so until chopchop time I'll just stick with water until harvest. No point in making teas for her anymore.

It seems pretty fine to me for a plant grew through 40°C outside temps under a single 45W with almost no work.

I'm off to start making lactobacilli. Gonna try making some FPEs for my next grow, which I promise will be more serious. (I'm building the closet currently)

challenging grow bro.
Why don't you add more CFLs?
Because it would be harder to cool 'em and for the heck of finishing a plant with 45W CFL.
I don't expect much from it, I just hope it would finish and give some nice smoke.

I rather light it at daytime. It doesn't generate much heat at all, specially when vented so powerfully.
If I'd run it at night the light temps would be lower than the dark temps, which isn't good.
If I was to run more W it would heat up in both cases.

I have also done this format of test growing specifically for heat signature issues...all can be solved with proper venting but you can grow plants successfully with your setup all the same...the difference will be in the smoke...because the plant has really not had the proper amount of light intensity, there is a LOT less development of THC and subsequent cannabinoids because most energy goes into maintaining stem/leaf structures...At a conservative estimate...you're looking at taking a potential plant of 17% THC and ending up with a shorter less responsive plant that'll maybe give 7 - 10% THC

Thats a nice theory. Do you have any lab tests to back it up?

I thought the opposite way; as long as I feed it right it will focus enough energy on budding. However, unlike growing with HID, a lot less trichomes will degrade due to high radiation and heat.

I never bought that all 17% THC. Even if its achievable I don't see myself getting it any time soon.
You should also take into consideration the handling, manicuring, moving, chopping etc.
Those also take a nice part of the cake.

My CFL buds are ALWAYS frostier by far compared to my 400W buds, but I have no clue about the actual THC content.

Anyhow, I don't look for 17% THC for my personal use. I like my buds at medium potency - that way I can smoke a bit more without getting fucked up. Lightweight smoker I guess.

Flowering day 73

Flowering day 73

Got her flushed with around 10L of dechlorinated water and gave her a weak dose of EWC tea I made.
Plucked a lot of not-so-healthy leaves.
After taking it to the bath I placed it with the other side facing the camera. The bigger side.

I've noticed a lot of salts buildups in the medium. That might mean 2 things - either a nutrient consumption deficiency or either I had to flush more even when I've used only teas and water.

Trichomes are 2-3% amber and the rest are mostly milky.

Mandala's site claims 60-65days flowering, so I guess the "add 2 weeks to what the breeder claims" would be true this time.

The last picture is one of the buds that was further away from the light. Those buds are airy and inferior to the ones closer to the light. Oddly they are the bigger ones.

79 days of flowering - last day of light.

79 days of flowering - last day of light.

Well, 80 days of flowering for this plant, and it didn't fully mature yet.
Probably the lack of light is the cause.

I'm going to turn off her light from 8PM today until tomorrow night when she'll get chopped.

Done the manicuring just now.

Airy buds, not enough trichomes on the parts that wasn't getting enough lights, WEAK smell, very vigorous growth, what I was expecting my yield would look like.
The leaves had very few trichomes and won't be processed into hash. I put them in my mj compost pile.

Trichome count - 10% amber, rest are cloudy.

congrats. its a light im sure anybody would laugh at the idea of using on its own.. im not saying its the way to go. but for those who cant afford anykind of set up and maintaining electric bills its deffo proof it can be done

The plant was not cut to dry but rather put on top of the closet to die and dry "naturally".
Therefor it isn't dry yet. Should be dry in 2-3 days.
Looks nice so far.

@darko_G; For males or for a few joints for personal use of a lightweight smoker (such as myself) that doesn't want to spend nearly anything its kind of a good setup. For proper buds - it ain't.

@sanjuan; Glad I was of help :)

oh deffo not for anything major but for a carboard box in the corner its deffo better than filling said box with junk

Dry yield - 8.82 grams.
Buds are airy and doesn't smell too strong. But they smell MUCH MUCH more than up until the first day of curing.

Very low yield but I think I did fine considering the light used.

yet to light a doobie so no smoke report yet.
