UHN,

They are LFTR PLLR lyrics! They are a band I like.
I may also look a little like Jesus these days.:tiphat:
You see, I live what some would call, a Hermit-like Existence. And hair tends to grow faster under such circumstances.

UNH,

I should have a picture of that OTH x MT plant that was plucked, a bit later ontoday. She has remained quite stout.

It seems, removing the big sun leaves when topping, really keeps the stretch down.

Here's the picture updates from today.

Old Timer's Haze

As mentioned, the OTH1 was fimmed several days ago. Looks like I will get 4 nice top branches out of it. Smaller OTH is perking up and getting ready to set second 'true' leaf set.

Bangi Hazes

Looks like Bangi Haze 1 and 2 are females. They are showing pistil like growth on top shoots. Not 100%, but good indication of female preflowers to come. The trifoliate has not shown sex, but from what I've been told, is a likely male. If so, that is great too because I can pollenate for next gen.

Senor Garcia

Here's the single Senor Garcia. You may be able to see the leaf deformity. I haven't grown one yet that didn't exhibit this trait. Takes quite a while for them to start growing out normal. I'm thinking of breaking out the last 2 seeds and seeing if I can get them to germ. Maybe some cross pollenation for F2's if successful.

So a Question. Normally (with Sat/Ind Hybrids) I would transplant these at this point, but since they are pure sativas, should I hold off to keep stretch controlled?

Was on the road for a few days. Looked at the OTH in the dark cycle and it is telling me that it is time to transplant. Doesn't like the liquid low dose organic feed (curled leaves) yet without, is showing lower leaf yellowing. So, I will transplant to a slightly larger container this weekend. A lovely challenge, this one. More to come.

I set the last two Senor Garcia's in water and one is showing a nice root grow, so it went into soil this evening. Not to hijack Ace thread, but no where else to really post so this is where that show will go...

Bangi's also need larger pots. I will post some new pics soon. They look great...and smell even better. I'm already getting that incense/hash smell from them...

Cheers Ace followers...

5 week Updates (from seed sprout).

Everyone's a little droopy due to just being transplanted. I expect quite a bit of perk up over the next week.

First, Bangi Hazes

Smells are really starting to increase. Hashy, incense for sure. The trifoliate has a strong acrid smell...slight metalic.

Old Timer's Haze #1

Not much aroma on this one yet. 4 nice branches starting to form from the fim. Will look to take clones in 1-2 weeks time.

The Tortoise

Senor Garcia, still no where close to needing a repot. Funky, twisty leaves with a very pungent skunk/hash aroma. I sprouted the last two seeds and both have tails popped, though that hasn't guaranteed living plants, so keeping fingers crossed. I would love to get a female and two males.

The Hair

Old Timers #2. Started several weeks after the others but it is the same height in the cup as the Senor Garcia almost 3 weeks older. Spindly light green stretcher...

Cheers,

No, its aces' forum and this is your thread. Not to mention nice free advertisement.

,

You are so lucky and im jelly beans ;) The acrid smell has been associated with more premium strains of hazes, I think T.Hill talks about that smell at your stage of growth:jump:
Also, sorry to be a nudge but was wondering if you can pindown the "incense" smell a little more i.e. Jasmin, patchouli, etc :)
Thanks again for sharing:!

Looking good, UHN!

I'm diggin how stout that OTH is!

I got 2 males in my OTH x MT. 1 a little earlier than the other. Later one being a very nice big plant.

I've had to correct some Mg deficiency. Saw some yellowing due to Hard Water Problems. So I Foliar Fed with some Epsom Salt. Better now, Nothing Major, but I am on my toes.

I saw about 10 pistils on each plant today. I think they are almost ready. I am going to hit them with a Bloom Fert after I get a handle on the Mg. deficiency.

Good Luck!

-COOH, the other two Senor Garcias are not looking great. One may pull through, the other doubtful. These older seeds like to crack but they don't like to do much more. I'll keep a vigil and hope at least one more makes it.

As for the Bangi Haze aromas I gave all three a strong stem rub down. #1 and #2 are earthy, not nearly as strong as patchouli. They also carry a strong limey/sour note maybe a tinge of mhyrr. I have heard Tom speak of the metallic in his haze. More metal shop. The Bangis are not related, but I would best describe the smell right now on #3 as moth ball with a tinge of oiled steel.

GreenMind,

Yes, OTH #1 is staying compact with the fimmed top branch. I suspect it will start to stretch soon. I think the T5 fluorescent helps as well. OTH #2 is a spindly long fast climber.

sativagrower87. Thanks and good luck with yours. Just got a pack of Tom Hill Haze but that will be another story...

Those are wide leaves for OTH. The 10 I grew all had very thin leaves.

HHHG,

Yes, they are quite wide especially when you compare to the younger OTH #2 I have growing.

These came from breeder packs, so I do not have much doubt unless a rouge seed found its way in or someone at the seed company made a deliberate switch in the vial.

When Dubi returns from his Holidays, perhaps he can chime in. Or anyone else who has grown the OTH, whether these leaves are possible in this strain. We will also see if they thin out as the plant matures.

Sweet thread Ur Humbl Nr8tor ( cool name too hehe, what it means).

I never grow OldTimer Haze, but I've seen different individuals, and they always have very thin leaves, green/lime color and a velvety touch, millions of litle non glandular trichs cover all the plant stems.

Your's look so pretty, and hopefully you'll get some stelar Sativa High in this OTI's.
As Dubi and Charlie Garcia had said many time's, OTI Haze it's a breeding tool, and also needs get deeper in the line to learn a bit how this kind of vintage genes work's in hybrids and how you can improve vigour into other Sativa lines too inbreeded.
More over I'll recommend you personally to reproduce the line and test all females you got after a long cure!

What do you mean with "breeders pack" ???

Well, I can't really say, being that I have never grown them indoors @ UHN's Crib. Environmental differences can make a HUGE difference in how the plant grows. Container size, type of light, technique, etc.

That said, out of the 10-15 OT Haze I have personally grown to the 5 week mark, none of them resemble that plant. But who knows.

Maybe a Loose Pollen Flying around from a different breeding.

Maybe its just OT Haze looking a bit different.

Difficult to say at this point. Should be interesting regardless, she looks healthy.

Ras Pablo,

Thanks for the input. First to my name, it comes from the book (and I suppose the movie) 'A Clockwork Orange'. A very heavy (violent) novel/movie but if you really focus on the message, it is that we are all ingrained with the ability to choose our actions (whether good or evil) and that political machines should not be able to manipulate that 'freedom of choice'. The main character is named 'Alex' and he references himself as 'Your Humble Narrator', throughout the book, hence the reference.

As to the OTH line specifically, unfortunately, I only got 2 of 10 to germ and then we have the 'questionable' fat leaf form. SO, my first note is not to buy any more from that source of seeds (not Gypsy or SeedBay - but didn't have a choice due to availability) and second, to wait for new OTH parentals in 2011. I hope the fat leaf is indeed OTH but have to suspect it based on other's comments. The new leafs post fim are looking a little more sativa like. We'll see how it progresses.

I've now got some Tom Hill's Haze as well and would like to grow and cross between these two lines. I believe I will need more OTH to accomplish those means. I refer to Breeders Pack, as the seeds from the vendor came in an official 'Ace Seeds' card with a small plastic vial glued inside. This is different from many seeds coming in hand packed plastic (and hand labeled baggies). The vial, though, could have been opened OR a random seed inserted. I look for Dubi to help with the examination as this plant matures.

GreenMind, my friend. Yes, she looks unusual. I can't wait to see where she goes, but perhaps Dubi will chime in with his advice. My goal is to take some cuttings soon, clone and maybe sneak one outdoors, so we'll see if that changes her structure. When you look at OTH #2, there is almost no resemblance, which makes me suspicious of lineage (+ she actually germed no problem compared to all others in the vial). I'll be disappointed if she is not OTH but intrigued by the mystery if that be the case. I had higher expectations from OTH but through old seed germination and what not, I will suspend judgment until a new pack is procured and grown. In the meantime, enjoy the possibilities-All,

Salut,

Sorry UHN, but counting on the very low germ rate and that plant not looking like an OTH at all, you can be suspiscious about the distributor. Its clear that it didn't come from Gypsy or ACE directly, so no question about them or their reputation.

btw, thanks for explaining what your nickname means!

Hey UHN, sorry to hear about the SG and good luck with the 2 survivors, they look like they'll pull through beautifully!
Its very doubtful somebody will take the time to make fake breeder packs, but who knows, just doubt it. Do you remember what the seeds looked like? On the small side? Were they all uniform in size?

gkn,

A mystery is brewing. I have received some positive opinions of the vendor I used and that the seed stock was in fact legitimate (with very high germ rates) as well. I believe Dubi had alluded to them being a reputable source for these seeds. I will keep the updates coming and we will see what these two seeds can do.

2-COOH, yes the SG sprouts are not completely dead, but they look like it may be a matter of time. I'm still nursing them as best I can.

The one Senor G that is growing is still slowly moving along. Smells great.

More pics in the next day or so.

Cheers,
